So Spring has officially sprung! It might still seem a bit gloomy out there but look around and you’ll see there’s so much going on – birds are busy nesting, the trees are starting to come into leaf, flowers are pushing up and bursting into bloom, and there are clouds of blossom in the hedgerows and in gardens everywhere. It always seems a bit of a struggle from the dark days of December to now, but next weekend the clocks go back so the days will be longer, and soon it will be Easter - a great time of year to get together with a group of family or friends and enjoy a large group holiday in the country.
There’s something so good about an Easter break; is it just that fresh feeling, everything being so colourful, and well, so new? The bank holiday weekend is always something to look forward to – the first since Christmas, but we like all those Easter traditions too – hot cross buns and Simnel cake for tea, an Easter egg hunt in the garden before the traditional roast lamb lunch on Easter Sunday.
The good thing about getting away for an Easter break is that it’s not as hectic as the summer holidays, but the family attractions are all open and it’s often warm enough to sit outside if you have lunch at a country pub, or for a barbecue at your large group holiday home. Mind you, with our properties it doesn’t really matter what the weather is like because we have indoor swimming pools, covered hot tubs, BBQ lodges, and some even have the luscious bonus of a sauna.
With room to sleep 8-30 people an Easter break with Sleeps 12 gives you so much scope – get away with your besties and their kids, two or three, maybe even four families; head off with a bunch of friends, or get your whole family together – brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, grandparents, all the kids, even the family pooch. Maybe it's someone's birthday, or you have something else to celebrate, so there's a good excuse for a get together! It’ll be such a special time! Split the cost between you and honestly, you’d be hard pushed to find a decent hotel for the same price!
Picture it: you all striding through the long grass as you set off on a country walk, bluebell leaves coming up in the woods amongst the primroses and windflowers, a visit to a gorgeous historic house, a quiz for the kids to do, a family trail in the gardens, scones and jam in the tearoom. Maybe a day on the beach, spending leisurely hours spuddling among the rockpools, looking for fossils or sea glass, and then fish and chips whilst you watch the world go by.
Back at your luxury self- catering accommodation you can whip up a bit of friendly competition in the games room with pool, table tennis or table football before you gather round the dining table for a scrumptious feast, then snuggle up on big fat sofas to watch a movie, with pop corn to share. Have a game of rounders in the garden, play I-Spy or charades in the BBQ lodge, enjoy a soak in the hot tub or a lark around in the pool. It’s all about taking your ease, leaving your worries and your work far, far away and making the most of the brighter days. Our large group holiday houses and big country cottages aren’t just places to stay, they’re places to be happy in.
We have a little availability over the Easter period at some very good special offer prices - £2,500.00 for a 4 night midweek stay at The Plough near Bath! But that sleeps up to 29 people! That’s only £86 per person! For 4 nights!! 7 nights at Bossington Hall on Exmoor for £5,500.00! Hold on - that’s a gem of a country house that sleeps 30? Yes, that’s right – and at only £183 each, that’s an absolute steal! So, check out what we have left, grab a bargain and most of all, have a fabulous Easter break!
