Cockercombe - Accommodation
Cockercombe is a great place to stay for holidays and short breaks with friends and family. This timber-clad lodge with its own private indoor pool is spacious, light and airy, and has plenty to keep all ages smiling.
Step inside the front door to a lobby and go left to the enormous open plan living space; to one end is the kitchen, well equipped for your large group holiday. If you’re here for a special occasion private chefs will have no problem creating a celebration feast for you (see Extras). Next to the kitchen are the stairs, and then a dining table to seat 14; at the far end of the room there’s comfy seating, a user-friendly wood-burner and a big TV. Come back after a walk in the Quantock Hills, light the fire and settle down to watch a movie together, all snug and warm. The beauty of this large open plan space is that there’s room for all of you to gather; you can dine and chat, and play games, making for extra special memories of your large group holiday in Somerset.
Right of the entrance lobby are Bedrooms 1-3, all with a TV and ensuite facilities; Bedrooms 1 and 2 both have a shower room, Bedroom 3 has an access friendly wet room. Back in the huge living space, the stairs lead to a landing and on to Bedrooms 4-6; first left is the games area with table football, on from this and round to the right is Bedroom 4, a large room that sleeps 4 and has its own ensuite bathroom with a bath and handheld shower. The beds can be configured however you want them – as two super kings, a super king and two singles, or as four singles, so it makes a brilliant room for a family or for older children who want to share dormitory style.
Along the landing, next to Bedroom 4 is Bedroom 5, which sleeps 2 and has an ensuite bathroom, again with a handheld shower above the bath. To the right of the landing is Bedroom 6 – another one with an ensuite bathroom that has a bath and handheld shower. All the beds at Cockercombe are zip and link so they can be arranged as super kings or singles.
Huge floor to ceiling doors open onto the patio from the main living space; on warmer days throw them open and let outdoors and indoors merge. Play table tennis, fire up the barbecue, get the steaks sizzling and dine alfresco. Just across the patio from the living space is the private indoor pool where full height doors can be pushed open to bring the sunshine in, adding to that happy holiday vibe. The pool is exclusively yours for the whole of your stay so, if you want to, you can take an early morning swim or a late night dip before you turn in for a restful night's sleep.
Expect excited shrieks from the play area - there’s a climbing wall with swings, a climbing fort and slide, and a trampoline; like we said, something for all ages. Cockercombe is a great choice for two or three families getting together for a holiday, for a multi-generational stay and for significant celebrations like those big birthdays and anniversaries.
