The best part of the journey is the arriving so when you turn off the lane to park up at Asham House that’s when you really start to unwind, away from the busy roads, in the peace and quiet of the Somerset countryside. This big house to rent for family holidays welcomes you through the door into a cloakroom; straight ahead is the garden, off to the left is the open plan kitchen/dining room with everything you need to make your holiday stress free.
There’s comfy seating and a TV, a big dining table to comfortably seat you all for those big happy feasts and doors that open onto the terrace. It’s a big happy place, somewhere you can all get together and have fun, especially if you’re celebrating something momentous, like a significant birthday or a remarkable anniversary. Off the kitchen is an inner hall with the back stairs to the right, leading up to three of the bedrooms; to the left is the main hall leading on to the garden and the drawing room. This is a gorgeously light and airy room with inviting sofas and plenty of the Georgian charm and character you’ll find throughout the house – picture rails, high ceilings and big windows.
The main stairs rise from the hall to the landing and to Bedroom 1 which has a four poster bed and an en suite bathroom. A few steps down from the landing is a large family bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. The landing continues up a short flight of stairs to Bedrooms 2-4 and a laundry room; Bedrooms 1 and 2 have king size beds and Bedroom 2 has the bonus of an en suite shower room; Bedroom 3 has a double bed and Bedroom 4 has a king size bed.
Back downstairs in the inner hall a short corridor takes you to the Coach House where you’ll find the snug, a cosy room with a TV and doors to the terrace where there’s outdoor table tennis. Upstairs is Bedroom 5 with zip and link beds (super king or twins), Bedroom 6 with a king size bed, and a shared bathroom with a bath and handheld shower.
The country elegance continues outside where a large terrace provides the perfect setting for those long and lazy alfresco lunches; have afternoon tea on the lawn, play football with the kids, let them loose on the slide and the climbing frame, bimble off to the tennis court, racket in hand, for a game of doubles. In the evening sit out beneath the stars in the warmth of the firepit; you’ll have the happiest of times on your large family holiday at Asham House and special memories will be made. Book now!
