On a private estate on the Wiltshire and Somerset border, Tickety-Boo has so much space, style and substance for your large group holidays in the UK. The indoor pool has an underground feel and a curved window gives a view of the skies; there’s an in-built swim spa and hot tub, a sauna and a huge projection wall so you can watch TV while you swim. Now that’s what we call amazing!
We love the topsy-turvy living at Tickety-Boo; on the ground floor are 7 ensuite bedrooms, upstairs is the enormous living/entertaining space, loft style, light and airy, with views over Cley Hill. Interiors are cool and collected, merging seamlessly with centuries-old features like the exposed stonework and hefty elm rafters that soar to the pitch of the roof. This is a house that has everything you need to make your holiday swing along perfectly.
So in you go, through the door to a wide hallway, maybe pausing for a game of table football. To the left are Bedrooms 1-3, to the right are Bedrooms 4-6. All have ensuite shower rooms, except for Bedroom 5 which has a bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. There’s a TV in every bedroom and beds are zip and link, so they can be arranged as super kings or twins, whatever suits you best.
From the hall stairs take you up to the big open-plan living and entertaining space and wow, what a room! Left of the stairs comfy L-shaped seating beckons; go put your feet up, watch a movie, relax – this is your holiday, your time. Right at the other end of the room there’s a pastel pink kitchen and bar area, well equipped and well laid out, so there’s ample room to perch up and sip mojitos, to slice and dice and sizzle and stir.
In the middle of the room a long dining table seats you all; if you’re here to celebrate something very special, dress it up, put out flowers and lanterns, set the scene to raise a glass or two, get in fine voice for a round of ‘Happy Birthday’. Back downstairs, step out of the hall to the private courtyard garden where there’s all-weather grass, outdoor furniture, a gas barbecue and pizza oven. Idle the hours away with a long and leisurely lunch in the sunshine, step up to the next level for views over the fields; in the evening gather round the firepit beneath the lanterns, toast marshmallows and make memories to love.
Across the garden is the games room where you can play pool and table football, next to it is the movie room/snug and to the rear, the pool room; at one end of the pool there’s a built-in swim spa and hot tub, to the other, a waterfall and a projection wall. Down at the end of the room you can unwind in the sauna, up above the pool, a long curved roof window means the treetops, the cottonwool clouds and the night skies are forever in your sights. It’s a sensational feature of the house and it’s all yours for the whole of your stay. Also this side of the courtyard is Bedroom 7, again, with zip and link beds and an ensuite shower room. if you like your own space with private access, get in quick and baggsie this room.
