One of the best things about Thorncombe is that it has its own private swimming pool, and it's all yours for the whole of your large group stay. Use it whenever you like; take an early morning or late night dip, get the family out there splashing about and having fun. Step into the hallway and off to the left is the enormous open plan living/dining area with a long table that’s just the ticket for happy celebration feasts. Hire private caterers (see Extras) to cook for you; a 3 course dinner, canapes and cocktails on the patio, or a big barbecue - the perfect way to raise a glass to that special birthday or anniversary. To one end there’s a pool table, to the other comfy sofas and a big TV await you; put your feet up, cosy up for family movie nights, come back and light the wood-burner after a wintry walk in the hills.
Right of the hall a lobby leads to the kitchen, bang up-to-date with everything you need to make catering for your large group easy; kick start the day with the aroma of freshly baked croissants tempting everyone to the table, if it rains stay in and bake a cake, or go blackberry picking in the autumn and knock up a wholesome crumble when you get back.
The lobby also leads to Bedrooms 1 and 2; like all the bedrooms at Thorncombe these have zip and link beds that can be set up as super kings or twins. Bedroom 1 has an ensuite shower room, Bedroom 2 has an ensuite bathroom that can also be accessed from the hall. Bedrooms are all finished in calming neutral tones so coupled with the fresh country air you ought to sleep well when you’re here.
Stairs rise from the dining area to a mezzanine landing where there's table football and a sofa bed that can accommodate 1 extra guest at a small additional charge. Off to the left are Bedrooms 3 and 4, both with ensuite bathrooms. Bedroom 4 makes a great family room or a dorm for 4 older children as there are 2 zip and link beds that can be arranged as 2 super kings, a super king and 2 singles, or 4 singles. Bedroom 5 is to the right of the mezzanine and has an ensuite bathroom.
The pool hall is just across the patio, right opposite the main living space. The beauty of it is that you can use it come rain or shine which is why Thorncombe is a great choice for holidays and short breaks any time of year. When it’s hot get the steaks sizzling on the barbecue and spend the afternoon relaxing outdoors; the younger folk will have a whale of a time on the trampoline or in the play area.
