Flossy Brook Reviews

10/10 - It was lovely. We went for a walk that the owner recommended which was brilliant. We also visited Lyme Regis beach about 30 mins away and it was lovely. - Salter

10/10 - We loved the pool, the climbing frame and trampoline the most but we also loved the little touches too like the children’s books & board games that were left in the property for us to make use of. The owner really does think of everything and the whole week we felt like we were staying at a home from home. We had a really lovely lunch in the Candlelight Inn, they were so accommodating of us. We didn’t book and they fitted us all in and made us very welcome. - Windsor

10/10 - The property was stunning and as beautiful as we had hoped it would be from the website. It was a great space for a hen do. The pool was a great addition and the house had everything we needed. The information provided was helpful and well organised. The only thing that could have helped was on my online booking to have easy reference back to the property details and what was provided. I find I had to keep clicking back to search for the property as it wasn't easy to find in my booking (may have been me). I would recommend the company. We did use the pampering service, butlers in the buff and also Somerset silent disco. - Sharpe

10/10 - Loved the setting, the accommodation and warm reception. - Barton

9/10 - Double dishwashers were a great idea for a large group. Plenty of games to play. Lots of fridge space. We can recommend days out to West Bay and Lyme Regis- Lomax

10/10 - The house was stunning, the pool was an amazing addition. Bedrooms were the perfect size, plenty of glasses, cutlery, cooking equipment. My only recommendation would be extra seating in the lounge area and perhaps a slightly bigger dining table as it is snug for 12 people. - Kelly

10/10 - We loved the property, the pool was lovely and warm. The owner was lovely and the cakes were a lovely unexpected treat! - Hollyman

10/10 - Lovely welcome from the owner who had thought of everything, there’s really nothing extra needed. Everyone loved the pool and the playground, great to have such a good facility to keep familial happiness just right! Just really appreciated how clean and what a high standard the house was. Our daughter was ill so the washer dryer was a godsend. We didn’t really get out but the local pub was awesome and the walk the nature reserves brilliant for our kids. Stopped in Chard which was interesting for a quick stop. - Tutton

10/10 - Perhaps more of a warning that it is not a dog friendly place and that to let dogs run off lead you need to drive somewhere. Us humans had a great time but it felt like the poor dogs were caged up all weekend, they were not even allowed in the park nearby. - Johnson

Response: "Please note that Flossy Brook is very dog friendly! The property has a big, secure garden – if you close the gate dogs cannot get out and they have plenty of room to run around. At Flossy Brook there is a booklet with maps and directions for several walks/public footpaths that you can take right from the doorstep, without having to drive anywhere, although you may have to initially walk on the lane for a short distance and keep dogs on a lead. There is also the Bishopswood Meadows walk, and you can easily stroll to Otterhead Lakes where dogs can run off lead. However, it is worth remembering that nowadays most landowners/farmers ask that dogs are kept on a lead due to livestock/crops in the fields. There is a play area in the village, but as with most play areas dogs are not allowed here for obvious reasons. The field leading to the play area is private land with sheep grazing – so clearly, dogs must be kept on a lead. But there are plenty more walks in and around the village, clearly signposted and set out in the booklet in the lodge". - Sleeps12

10/10 - Flossy Brook was outstanding. Ali was both welcoming and lovely to meet and chat with - so caring about our stay being enjoyable. We can recommend days out to West Somerset Railway to MineheadSidmouth Donkey Sanctuary and Charmouth Beach for fossil hunting. - Gillman

10/10 - We were blessed with good weather, which always helps, but from Ali's warm welcome to the time we left we all enjoyed a wonderfully happy family holiday. The pool was great facility and it was sometimes difficult to get the grandchildren out of it! The layout of the lodge at Flossy Brook is excellent and allowed the three generations of our family to meet together for a variety of different activities, but also gave privacy when required. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms and bathrooms and en suites well appointed. We would strongly recommend using the caterers recommended by Sleeps 12, particularly when marking a special occasion. In our case it made for a very special celebration indeed. Outside there was feeling of spaciousness, with an extensive sun bathing area, outdoor dining and barbecue facilities, and an excellent, well equipped, play area for the younger children. The Candlelight Inn provides really good food and drink, and the fact it is in walking distance is a huge plus. And there are so many attractions within easy driving. We will always be grateful to our friends for recommending Flossy Brook. It was a family holiday that will stay long in the memory. Lyme RegisDunster and MineheadBarrington Court, and Montacute House, both excellent National Trust properties. - Sharpe family

8/10 - The house was beautifully kept and well equipped, but I found the wet room very dark and it took ages for the whole room to dry off after a shower. The floor stayed very wet and just going to the toilet later often meant that you would still be walking on a wet floor. The swimming pool was a real bonus but I was surprised that there were no pool towels available. Previous places we have stayed have supplied towels for the pool. Otherwise the whole experience was excellent and we all had a wonderful time!!! Days out to Beach at Brean, the steam train railway and trams etc at Seaton- Williams

10/10 - The accommodation itself (Flossy Brook) was perfect, as we had three generations in the group. It was built to a very high standard, spotlessly clean and we were greeted by the lovely owner Ali - along with cakes and flowers! In particular value was the indoor swimming pool which we used every afternoon - perfect for the grandchildren to play and learn to swim. There were some very nice touches (apart from the welcome package) in terms of plenty of towels, fans for each of the bedrooms, etc. Highly recommended. For the younger ones we went to the Maize Maze, which was very good, and other days we headed for the nearest beaches as the weather was so nice. - O'Donnell

10/10 - Really enjoyed the space and the swimming pool, great house. Felt at ease straight away. - Burton

10/10 - A real gem of a holiday house, a shelf in one of the bathrooms being pretty much the only improvement we could think of! The house works well for mixed generations and as a risk averse Granny I was very pleased that the pool area could be locked when not in use. Flossy Brook was everything we wanted it to be and more...... We did the Otterhead Lake walk with the dog and went to Burton Bradstock beach; mostly we enjoyed the house and pool. - Scott

10/10 - The pool at Flossy Brook was a complete hit with everyone and it was hard to get our water babies out of it! The layout of the house was perfect for us too. The only thing that might be an idea is a small changing area so the children don't tread water through the house. Apart from that it was perfect and would come again. Sidmouth is a charming place to visit, the young ones enjoyed the sea. Lyme Regis also very good. Visited Sheppys Cider Farm, nice shop. - Mexter

10/10 - Flossy Brook was perfect for our 'girls' weekend away to celebrate a 50th birthday. There were 10 of us and we all had our own beds. Loads of chill out space, wonderful large table to comfortably seat everyone. Wonderful outside space for us to chill, BBQ and have fun and very private. The pool was a definite highlight - we had a ball! Thank you! - Phelps

10/10 - Flossy Brook is beautifully fitted out and the swimming pool is excellent for children and adults. The location is so peaceful and quiet. We were lucky with the weather and as a result everyone wanted to stay put. Our party included 2 grandparents, 6 parents and 4 grandchildren, none of which wanted to go home. There are numerous coastal places within a short drive. The children enjoyed Monkey World which is a bit further away but worth the drive. - Lawrence

10/10 - The house was all great, a huge dining room table, a well equipped kitchen no real big issues there, the only comments some of our party asked was that a slow cooker would have been good, bedroom 5 gets very hot at night as this is directly above the pool but if you like a warm room you will be fine and a hot tub would have been perfect as it’s so private.... Lyme Regis was a fantastic day out and the weather was stunning, collecting the fossils was great fun. Also had some nice retail therapy shopping at the designer outlet Clarke’s Village in Street (only a 40 min drive). - Kalabza

10/10 - Wonderful property, quiet peaceful location, property well equipped & safety paramount with lots of stair gates for the little toddlers! Only one little thing would be from the ladies point of view was to have a dressing table & mirror with a plug socket near as we felt all the plugs seem to be out of reach of a mirror, but by no means did this spoil our family holiday as it was wonderful. Thank you for excellent service.- Simmonds

9/10 - We loved being met by Ali on arrival with flowers and a wonderful plate of cakes ..such a nice touch ..It was beautifully clean and set out and very well equipped. It was very well stocked which felt nice and was lovely and clean and warm, although some people were still very hot with the heating off so one guest felt a flat sheet option may be helpful. The trampoline seemed to have a lot of mosquitos in it so we didn’t use it as much as we thought. We struggled to get the towel rails to work so it was difficult to dry the towels except in the swimming pool. It was nice to be met by the owner and have a little bit of connection to the village .....we loved all the artwork on the walls ..we had a gorgeous memorable stay and are all very keen to return again ..thank you to all the staff who were so pleasant. We went for a beautiful walk around the village and to the lakes.- Hillier

10/10 - The property was amazing. The swimming pool and underfloor heating were the property highlights and were used to affect especially in the cold weather. Ali, the owner of Flossy Brook was so helpful and was there if we needed anything. If she was not around we would have been lost after suffering a short water outage due to a house fire in the village and also experiencing a foot of snow on our last day. Due to the very bad weather (foot of snow) on our last day, we were unable to leave the property and it was too unsafe to travel due to road closures etc. Ali, the owner of Flossy Brook took it upon herself to accommodate us for an extra night stay free of charge which was very considerate as our party consisted of a 38 week pregnant lady and a three year old girl. Again, Ali was amazing - King Group

10/10 - Everything was perfect, we really enjoyed our stay. - Connis Family

10/10 - Experience was fantastic, beautiful house and everything thought about. Not sure what I needed to take but everything was provided, down to salt and pepper, tea, coffee and sugar. Children loved swimming pool and playground. Flowers and cakes were lovely touch. Minor comment would be could do with a few storage boxes if you want to take snacks out for children, but this is just nit picking! We went to Lyme Regis beach and had coffee at Jean's cafe. Lovely and good service. We went to Castle Drogo, walk was nice but castle closed! Also went to Wookey Hole. Caves and guided tour was excellent, but the rest was a bit tacky and confused as to what it was meant to be. Buy tickets online for discount. In summer might be busy and parking a problem. - Robbins Family

9/10 - The kids loved the pool, the beach at Lyme Regis and fossil hunting at Charmouth. - Blatch Family

10/10 - The service we had from Sleeps 12 was excellent! The staff were very friendly and ready to help with any questions we had. The emails sent were always timely and very helpful. The house was a fantastic house for children and adults. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. There was a great supply of games, books and videos and information leaflets for local attractions. The swimming pool was great!! On the days when it was a bit wet for the outside equipment we had a marvellous time in the water! We found the cooking a bit troublesome as everything seemed to take longer to cook than we expected. Our welcome from Ali made us feel at ease straight away. She explained everything about the house to us very clearly. We also enjoyed the cakes! It was a fantastic experience from start to finish! - Cairns Party

10/10 - Well equipped, spotlessly clean. Superb layout for family celebration. Pool excellent. Very dog friendly. - Birch Group

10/10 - The property was comfortable, clean and a fantastic place to celebrate to a large family party, everyone really enjoyed the pool. We only had three days so we spent every day at the property to make the most of our time together. - Baker Family

10/10 - It was amazing, we never left the house! We could have done with a few outside toys for the children, other than that it was perfect! - Cooke Family

10/10 - Meeting Ali the owner was lovely, the homemade cakes were a super touch and her tour of the house helped to settle us very quickly. A great stay, we'll be back! - Sonley Family

10/10 - We were mainly lucky with the weather as mist was mostly in the morning. The pool was a good place to use and easy to uncover and re-cover. Maybe could have another step at bottom of ladder as a bit of a drop and not too easy to use when getting out. Not a criticism though just a suggestion. We went to Lyme Regis which was about 1hr drive away. Lovely beach and walks. Dawlish was another nice day out but the roads in and out were a bit narrow and hair raising. Saw the black swans for which it is famous, also the beach allows dogs on. We also did dirt buggies which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone but again, the drive was about 1hr away. - Green Family

10/10 - We enjoyed the space fully, we just need to make the stay longer next time. There will be a next time! As a big family we didn't need to go far as everything. The weather, pool, play area, play ground and also the pub were great! There was room for everybody. - Barker Family

9/10 - The swimming pool was a favourite. We visited Pecorama in Beer during our stay which was great for children! - Lewarne Family

10/10 - Really relaxing time and enjoyed the pool and a day out at Lyme Regis. - Crotty Family

10/10 - Loved the peace and loved the facilities like the pool and play area for kids. Wifi could be improved and also a better selection of DVDs for kids or a playstation or something when weather was very bad. Sidmouth was lovely for a day out as had a beach and shopping, also the air museum was great fun too. - Benton Family

10/10 - We spent the whole of our weekend in the property and had the most amazing time. I arranged for a sandwich company to bring afternoon tea, prices were very reasonable & beauticians to help us relax for my best friend's hen weekend. - Copestake

9/10 - The house was fantastic lovely location great swimming pool. Just could do with more wardrobe space in bedrooms. - Snell Family

10/10 - You could not have done better! We enjoyed the whole package, thank you. - Clarke Family

10/10 - Lovely secluded property which is so well equipped and very clean with a friendly and welcoming owner. We particularly enjoyed the homemade fairy cakes on arrival. We arrived very late in the evening, so a Welcome Pack of essentials such as milk and butter would have been helpful. - Ball Family

10/10 - We particularly enjoyed the indoor private swimming pool. The kids loved it and spent several hours playing in there. It was also very relaxing to have an evening dip with just the pool lights on after the kids went to bed. - Millns Family

10/10 -  We loved the wildlife, seclusion and self contained property. The preparation of the property was exceptional. The Children were more than happy to stay around the house swimming and playing on the outside play equipment. - Wheeler

10/10 - The swimming pool is lovely and the patio area is a real sun trap (even in March!). Great to be able to walk to the pub nearby. Very picturesque countryside. We visited Lyme Regis and West Bay. - Edwards

10/10 - This is our second stay at Flossy Brook, the house is amazing set in its own grounds; such a peaceful place to relax. The grandchildren particularly loved the swimming pool. Ali is a lovely person - we arrived to a beautiful vase of flowers and a plate of tasty home made cakes! She feels like a friend now! Hopefully we will be going back. - Sharpe

10/10 - We enjoyed every minute of our break away. Being able to choose from the extras made life easier when booking meals to be cooked in the house, days out and pamper days in. Such an amazing experience, one we would love to have again and would recommend to others. - Hanley

10/10 - Excellent cottage with beautiful views. Relaxing location and a great social venue with a lovely pool. We've had a great stay - the nicest Sleeps12 property we've used. Made for an excellent weekend. - Benjamin, Gess and Don

10/10 - Beautiful location and building which far exceeds all the information on the web-page. Had an absolutely wonderful time, beautiful house, wonderfully kitted out, absolutely loved the pool. I just wish that we had more time here, or at least more hours in the day. What a wonderful restful weekend.

10/10 - Flossy Brook is in a very private and peaceful location and provides all the essentials needed for a stress-free holiday. The home is superb and very spacious. Facilities inside and outside (to cook, watch TV and Blu-ray, play in the pool and on the trampoline, slide, swings, etc.) all make for a wonderful holiday for adults and kids. 100% recommended. - Dowsett

10/10 - The cottage is beautiful, welcoming, very well equipped, good location, immaculately clean. Would highly recommend and the best cottage we have stayed in so far in the Sleeps12 collection. - Plato

10/10 - What a fabulous place - none of us wanted to leave! Beautifully presented accommodation, spacious and perfectly equipped - made for a very relaxing weekend. The pool was the icing on the cake - our five year old girl learnt to swim without armbands this weekend! Sunday lunch at the Candlelight today - highly recommended. Wonderful time had by all thank you. - Vigars

10/10 - It was an amazing experience, lovely place. Flossy Brook had a wow factor never seen before. The pool was lovely, but the highlight was the sheep running out in the morning. Can't wait to come back next year. - Zewin
