Flossy Brook - Accommodation
Flossy Brook is a wonderful place to stay when all you want is a world of your own where you can unwind, slow down and savour those moments of luxury togetherness. Your worries will just drift away the minute you arrive because right here is everything you need for happy days and restful nights. This timber-clad lodge has the perfect blend of modern convenience and homeliness, along with heaps of space and a very gentle ambience. The open plan living space has warm wood flooring with underfloor heating, and is flooded with natural light from the floor to ceiling windows that give an outlook over the patio to the countryside beyond.
Park up, get out and have a stretch, then go in through the door to the hallway where you can play table football; off to the left is the kitchen where warm wood and sage green units give a lovely country feel. It’s all very well-equipped with room to sit and chat whilst you create all kinds of culinary delights; if you’re here for a family celebration book one of our tried and tested private caterers (see Extras) to cook a very special feast for you. Beyond the kitchen is one of two staircases at Flossy Brook, and the open-plan living/dining room; gather round the table for a leisurely breakfast of local eggs and bacon, for big hearty roast dinners and scrumptious suppers. Throw open the full height doors when it’s warm, spill out onto the patio for cocktails and canapes.
At the other end of the room big fat sofas beckon you to out your feet up; get snuggled for a movie night, with big bowls of popcorn to pass round. There’s a wood-burner for the colder months, such a treat for when you come back from a wintry walk in the hills, all cosy together with thick socks and chunky jumpers on, hands around a steaming mug of hot chocolate, trays of hot, buttery toast...
Also on the ground floor is Bedroom 1, which has an ensuite wet room. Upstairs from the living room there’s a mezzanine landing with a day bed that can be utilised as 2 extra guest beds (extra charge). Right of the landing is Bedroom 2 which has an ensuite bathroom, left of the landing is Bedroom 3 with a bathroom right next to it. Bedrooms 4 and 5 and a shared bathroom are reached from the other staircase in the hall; Bedroom 5 is great for a family as it has a day bed that can be configured as two singles at no extra charge. All the beds at Flossy Brook are zip and link (super king or twin) and all bathrooms have a bath with an overhead shower.
Back in the hallway, off to the right is the crowning feature at Flossy Brook - the indoor swimming pool. You’ll have hours of fun in here - there's room around the side for loungers, and floor to ceiling windows look out onto the patio and garden. The patio is south facing so it's quite a suntrap; take your morning coffee out there, fire up the barbecue and get the steaks sizzling, make the most of the good weather and have drinks at sunset. The kids will be happy running about on the grass and clambering about in the play area; nature lovers will love the wildlife area where butterflies and bees mingle among the flowers, and dragonflies skim over the pond (this is fenced for safety, but young children should always be supervised of course).
