The House
This 300 year old former dairy has seen an amazing remaking; it’ll knock your socks off the minute you step inside! Go into the light and airy hallway, to the right there’s a utility room where you can hang your coats and dry off the dogs when you get back from a country walk. Straight ahead is the enormous open plan living space; to one end are sofas to sit comfy, in the middle of the room there’s a double-sided wood-burner.
Next is the dining area with a bespoke rustic table, great for those joyful celebration feasts, then there's the kooky kitchen; check out the island worktop, inlaid with 2p pieces, all heads up except for 3 – but can you find them?
Bedrooms 1 to 3 are off the dining area. Bedrooms 4-6 are up the steps through the secret door at the end of the kitchen; at the bottom of the steps is Bedroom 7, access friendly with an ensuite wet room. Good to know is that all beds at Hill View are zip and link (super king or twin), all rooms have their own bathrooms or shower rooms, and that Bedrooms 3 and 4 both sleep up to 3 - great for families.
Dine alfresco on the patio, stride across the yard to the spa hall and games room. The spa hall has a pool and ground level hot tub, the games room has a 3-in-1 games table for pool, air hockey or table tennis. Just outside the spa hall, the barrel sauna has breathtaking views over the fields and hills.
Local Area
Step out from the doorstep and explore to your heart’s content; walk the high hedged lanes, discover footpaths through fields and along ancient holloways. There are local shops, pubs, and a riverside walk just a couple of miles away in Colyton; go to the station and catch the tram for a leisurely ride through Seaton Wetlands, coming back for tea at the Tramstop Café.
Close by are the beaches of the Jurassic Coast; a 10 minute drive away is Beer, a quiet fishing village with a relaxing ambience that makes you want to linger. Have a mooch around the shops, hire a boat from Beer Self Drive Motorboats and go mackerel fishing, follow the South West Coast Path over to the picturesque coastal village of Branscombe, walk up the hill for lunch at the Fountain Head.
A little further you can spend the day on the sands and saunter along the promenade at Sidmouth, go to Exmouth for watersports, visit the Marine Aquarium and Dinosaurland Fossil Museum at Lyme Regis, or go fossil hunting at Charmouth.
Have a family day out at the Donkey Sanctuary, go see the animals at Axe Valley Wildlife Park or Wildwood Escot. Plan a trip to Crealy Theme Park, or head down to Exeter to see the beautiful cathedral, take a tour of the medieval underground passages and take the kids to Clip n Climb.
Get back to Hill View, have a splash in the pool, a soak in the hot tub or relax in the sauna as the sun sets over the hill. Perfick as they say round here.
