Holiday Properties in Wedmore
When you go to Wedmore it doesn’t take long to realise what a lovely little place this is. Out in the middle of the Somerset Levels, elevated above the flat landscape, the village is surrounded by lush pastures with the backdrop of the Mendip Hills. If you ended up here by accident, it would be a thing of serendipity. You’d want to linger, to park up and have a stroll around; and so you should.
Wedmore is a very pretty village, and quite a big one, with lots of characterful stone cottages and more grand Georgian houses. The village centre can be quite a hive of activity, with people bustling about the independent shops, filling their baskets at the farm shop, the fishmongers, and the village store, and browsing the boutiques and galleries. So go and do the same, have a pokey round, stop by for lunch at The Swan or The George.
When you’re staying nearby on your large group holiday in Somerset, keep an eye out for what’s on in Wedmore and go along to one of the big events, like the Street Fair, the Real Ale Festival, or in December, Wedmore by Lamplight. There’ll be a throng of happy people milling about and a convivial atmosphere.
Nearby is Wells, with its medieval cathedral, Cheddar Gorge and for days on the beach, Burnham-on-Sea.
