The New Inn, Halse, Somerset
Tucked away in the Somerset village of Halse, the New Inn follows all the traditions of a good country pub. It’s completely unpretentious, with staff who are very friendly and accommodating. Though modernised over the years the rustic character has been retained – great big thick beams, brick fireplaces with wood-burners and in the restaurant original stone walls. Make yourself comfy on the sofas or sit out the back in the courtyard and contemplate whilst you gaze out at the hills. And tuck into some seriously good food, made with locally sourced ingredients. On the menu are delights like Venison Meatball Ragu and Wild Mushroom Risotto, and if you go on a Sunday, the roast is excellent. If you’re not that hungry have a bar snack – ciabatta rolls, humous and pitta bread, home made soup; they will happily cater for big groups in the restaurant or in the function room. There’s a pool table, free wifi and they don’t mind muddy boots or dogs.
Open Mon-Sat 12-11 and Sun 12-10. No food Mon or Tues.
