Sandfield House - Accommodation
Turn off the lane onto the gravelled drive at Sandfield House and pull up at your journey's end. You'll love this large group holiday house from the minute you walk into the wide reception hall - wide enough for a feature fireplace, table tennis and an inviting sofa; kick off your shoes and put your feet up for a minute before you go and explore. Big as it is, this gorgeous old house has all the homely feels, along with lashings of period character. Off to the left is a WC and a utility room with laundry facilities, to the right is a commodious sitting room where huge bay windows allow the light to pour in, creating a wonderful timeless ambience.
Straight ahead in the hall is the country style kitchen with a central island and a four oven Aga, as well as a double electric oven and a halogen hob. No one will be out there slicing and dicing alone - there's plenty of room for chit chat whilst you create a scrumptious feast. Next to the kitchen is the conservatory-style dining room with a long table to seat all and doors that take you through to the indoor spa area; all yours is a 4m swim spa and downstairs in the converted cellar, a sauna and showers. Accessed from the spa area and the hall is the games room with a pool table, colourful sofas and a big TV.
The main stairs rise from the main hall to a part galleried landing; straight ahead is a large family bathroom with a free standing bath and a separate shower, off to the left are Bedrooms 1 and 2, both with luxurious ensuite shower rooms. Lucky you if you sleep in Bedroom 2 because there are doors that open onto a roof terrace - step outside to greet the day and enjoy morning coffee in the sunshine. To the right of the landing are Bedrooms 3 and 4 and steps down to Bedroom 5 which has sole use of a shower room on one side and a bathroom on the other. From this side of the house there are the far reaching views across the Somerset countryside with the Quantock Hills in the far distance.
All the beds at Sandfield House are zip and link so you can have them arranged as super kings or twins. Bedrooms 3 and 5 have an extra single bed so can both sleep 3 people, making a great set up for families with young children, or for three teenagers who want to share their snooze space. All bedrooms are spacious, light and airy, and it's so peaceful here that restful nights ought to come easy. Back downstairs to the left of the kitchen a lobby leads to Bedroom 6 which has its own loo and shower room, and access out to the courtyard and terrace. Bedroom 7 is on the first floor and has 2 optional extra guest beds (great for children) at no extra charge.
The landscaped grounds at Sandfield House are a delight, with sweeping lawns, mature trees all around including a magnificent cedar at the side of the house, and the icing on the cake: your very own outdoor pool, heated for use from April to the end of October. There's plenty of room around the pool for loungers and alfresco dining, and there's a covered area and an outdoor kitchen. Just imagine those blissful summer days spent idling the time away; a knock about on the tennis court, a dip in the pool whenever you feel like it, steaks sizzling on the barbecue, the children happily running about on the lawns, doing handstands, playing tag. Venture out to explore the local area if you wish, but you know, we really don't blame you if all you want to do is stay here, happy as larks. Peace and quiet, all your favourite people with you, all those wonderful memories being made: luxury togetherness. Isn't that what it's all about? Find your big happy at Sandfield House - book today!
