Pinklet - Accommodation

When you arrive at Pinklet you'll feel any worries slip away as soon as you step through the big oak door to the porch; it's as if the whole place lets out a soft sigh and welcomes you in. Extended and renovated in recent years, this gorgeous country cottage dates back to the 16th century and is full of rustic character; chunky stone walls, big thick timbers, exposed beams, flagstones and oak floorboards, and original fireplaces.

Go straight through to the huge kitchen/dining room, light and airy with a well-equipped kitchen to one end and to the other a big sturdy dining table that sets the scene for those special family celebrations. Bi-fold doors open onto the garden, so when it’s warm you can open them wide and let the sunshine roll in.

A lobby leads from the kitchen to Bedrooms 5 and 6, both with double beds. Bedroom 6 has an ensuite shower room and there’s another one right next to Bedroom 5. This is a great set up for a couple with young children, or for anyone who finds stairs a little tricky.

Back in the porch, to the left is the living room, full of country character, with a beamed ceiling, huge rustic timbers, and massive flagstones on the floor. There’s a quirky fireplace with a wood-burner and in the back wall, the original bread oven. Put your feet up on the sofas and chill; this is a room to gather together by the fire after a wintery walk, to snuggle up and watch movies or play games, to chat and just be.

Beyond the living room is the games room with a pool table, an old brick fireplace with a wood-burner, a window seat, and French doors to the garden. An open-tread wooden staircase leads up to Bedrooms 3 and 4; Bedroom 4 has zip and link beds (king size or 2ft 6" twins, Bedroom 3 is an amazing room with centuries old exposed rafters soaring to the roof, there are zip and link beds that can be a super king or two 3ft singles, and a single day bed. In the ensuite bathroom there’s a huge walk-in shower and an old marble topped washstand that’s been adapted to hold 2 contemporary wash basins - it's like something from an interiors magazine! Up a couple of steps is a dressing area and a door to Bedroom 2 which has zip and link beds (king size or 2ft 6" twins), and an ensuite shower room.

Just along the landing there’s are stairs down to the kitchen, and right at the end, above the dining area, is Bedroom 1. This is a very spacious room that sleeps 4, in zip and links (super king or twin) and two singles. Full height windows give views over the garden and the hill that rises opposite the cottage, where cows contentedly graze most of the year. The ensuite bathroom has a free standing rolltop bath and a separate shower.

Just outside of the dining area there's a terrace with garden furniture; steps lead down to decking and the covered hot tub. To sit out there in the hot tub on a beautiful summers day when the trees are in full leaf and the birds are happily twittering is a dream; the stream trips merrily along just beyond the garden fence, squirrels scamper about on the lawns. The gardens stretch along the entire length of the cottage so there's so plenty of room for the younglings to run about and there are swings for them to play on. Pinklet is one big happy all round, book your stay today!
