Woolacombe Surf Centre is accredited as a Centre of Excellence by Surfing England, so if you want the highest level of professional coaching when it comes to surf lessons, go and see these guys. They’ve worked all over the world, they’re qualified beach lifeguards as well as surf instructors and they are absolutely passionate about the work they do here on the North Devon coast.
So, the surf lessons. What a fab thing to do when you’re on your large group holidays in Devon! All abilities are welcome, as long as everyone is at least 8 years old; lessons start from 2 hours and go up to a week’s course (5 sessions). They’ll do one-to-one coaching or take groups, which is a great idea for families, friends and corporate groups, but if surfing isn’t quite your thing you can also book kayaking and coasteering trips with Woolacombe Surf Centre. They have all the equipment for hire, from surfboards, bodyboards, and stand-up paddle boards to kayaks and wetsuits.
A huge bonus is the beautiful setting where the sessions take place, off the 3 mile golden sands at Woolacombe, Atlantic facing, so you get some fantastic breakers coming in to practice on. The backdrop of the village and the green hills of the North Devon AONB, well, it’s lovely.
