Symonds Yat Rock, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire

When you get up to Symonds Yat Rock you’ll understand why it’s such a famous viewpoint; words like spectacular, breathtaking, far reaching, and panoramic spring to mind. Back in the Iron Age when this was built as a fort, they certainly knew what they were doing; you can see for miles and miles over the beautiful Wye Valley and the countryside beyond to the distant hills. Take binoculars and see if you can spot the peregrine falcons that nest in the cliffs; you’ll find walking trails to the forest and the River Wye, and you can have a cup of tea and a sandwich in the 1950s built log cabin café (cash only).
Those who are appreciative of the beauty of the natural world, or even a damned good view won’t want to miss a visit to Symonds Yat Rock, and it’s not far at all from our luxury large group holiday accommodation in the Forest of Dean and Monmouth.

NB: Parking at Symonds Yat Rock is charged.
