Hillydays - Accommodation

Hillydays is set deep in the Devon hills, tucked away behind the owner's house on a working farm; step into the spacious hallway and you'll feel any worries slip gently away. To the right is the big open-plan kitchen/dining room, which has a lovely modern country look. It’s easy to imagine you all sat round the table tucking into a breakfast of bacon and eggs, or a hearty Sunday roast; with comfy sofas and so much space this is somewhere you can all enjoy happy sociable times - brilliant if you're here to raise a glass to a significant birthday or anniversary.

The kitchen is superbly kitted out, it'll serve you well and make catering for your large group easy, though there's always the option to book one of our recommended caterers (see Extras) to come and cook you up a feast. Just off the kitchen there's a utility area with laundry facilities; a stable door opens onto the courtyard - just the ticket for when you come back from an invigorating walk in the fields with muddy boots and wet coats.

At the other end of the hall is Bedroom 1, with an ensuite shower room; next door is Bedroom 5 – both have zip and link beds so you can have them arranged as a super king or twins; just let us know after you've made your booking and leave the rest to us.

The contemporary glass and oak staircase was designed especially for Hillydays; it takes you up from the hall to the living room - but you won't be able to resist pausing on the landing half way up where floor to ceiling windows give an incredible vista of the glorious Devon countryside - that's why the living room is upstairs. This is a lovely room, with a very gentle ambience, sumptuous sofas and a whopper of a TV; dim the lights, get a bowl of popcorn and settle down for a cosy night's viewing. In the summer, leave the French doors open and let the sunshine fall into the room, step out on to the glass fronted veranda whenever you fancy, wander down to the garden or out to the pool.

Left of the living room is Bedroom 2, with zip and link beds and an ensuite shower room. Get up in the morning, pull back the curtains and admire the view from the Juliette balcony. What a great start to the day! The other end of the living room are Bedrooms 3 and 4; both have zip and link beds, and use of a family bathroom that has a bath with an overhead shower. Bedroom 3 has French doors that open onto the veranda that runs more or less the length of the house and has steps down to the garden.

The pool is an amazing spot, out on the terrace with a backdrop of the Blackdown Hills; spend lazy days relaxing on the loungers, sipping ice cold drinks, splashing about with the kids, soaking up the rays. If the sunshine gets a bit too much for you, retreat to the shade of the pool side breeze hut to cool down. The pool is heated for use from early April until the end of October and is shared with the owners of Hillydays, though they rarely use it; you can choose to have it all to yourselves for an extra charge.

The younger folk will love the play area where there's a trampoline and a play fort with a climbing wall, swings and a slide. Have a game of outdoor table tennis with them, then a soak in the hot tub, and if the weather isn’t brilliant get together in the BBQ lodge and toast marshmallows before you get the sausages sizzling. Whatever you do, you'll be making very special memories to take home with you. Book your stay at Hillydays today!
