Frog Street - Accommodation
Once you’re off the A358, follow winding country lanes to a short private track that leads to Frog Street; right here is where your holiday begins, this is your time for luxury togetherness. Frog Street is a such happy house, so calm and welcoming; you’ll notice that straight away. Dating back to the 15th century it's got oodles of character and original features - old elm beams and doors, exposed stone walls, big inglenook fireplaces, and in the living room, restored Jacobean panelling. Go through the porch into the dining room where there's a big chunky table with colourful chairs to seat you all, and window seats to either side; this is a wonderful setting for any family celebration, everyone gathered around, glasses chinking, a scrumptious feast to tuck into.
To the left is the farmhouse style kitchen with an outlook over the garden and across the fields where you can often see deer feeding. You’ll have all the mod cons you need to rustle up a big breakfast, an elegant afternoon tea or a delicious roast dinner; in the corner a small table allows for cooking and mingling together; happy sociable times, just how holidays in the country ought to be.
To the right of the dining room, step down into the sitting room where there are big leather sofas to curl up on, a wide screen TV for movie nights and those matches you can't bear to miss, and a user-friendly wood-burning stove; come back and gather round after a wintry walk in the fields, with hot drinks and plates of hot buttery crumpets. Next door is the games room with a 3 in 1 table so you can play pool, air hockey or table tennis; beyond that a hallway leads to Bedroom 6 which has room for 1 extra guest bed (charged). and an ensuite shower room. From the hallway a big old door leads out to the front patio and a covered dining area - the perfect spot for breakfast in the sunshine.
The main staircase rises from the sitting room to a long landing; at one end is the Orchard Suite with Bedrooms 1 and 2 sleeping up to 6 (including 1 or 2 extra guest beds ,charged per person), so it's perfect for a family or for 6 friends sharing; there’s a dressing room and an ensuite bathroom with a double ended bath and a separate shower. Next along the landing is the Garden Room (Bedroom 3) with a king size French bed and an ensuite bathroom with an overhead shower; Bedroom 4, the Willow Room, has its own shower room. All the bedrooms, except Bedroom 3 have zip and link beds that can be arranged as super kings or twins. A second staircase leads from the games room to the Snug Room (Bedroom 5), with an ensuite bathroom with a roll top bath and a separate shower.
The gardens are at the front of the house and are south facing; they blend almost seamlessly with the fields and trees beyond. A rustic archway heavy with climbing roses and a rambling passion flower leads to a paved patio where you'll find ample garden furniture beneath a pergola that offers shelter from the hot sun and lovely place for drinks under the twinkly lights on warm evenings. Just beyond is a cosy Nordic style BBQ lodge that you can use any time of year; it’s even got its own kitchen attached so you won’t need to keep carrying things to and from the house. The young ‘uns will be happy as larks out here because they have so much room to run and play, and there are swings and a football goal.
In front of the patio there’s a lawned area and a spa lodge with a 5m swim spa and changing facilities; on the veranda there’s more seating and a hot tub perfectly positioned to take in the pastoral views over the fields. Beyond the lodge are trees, ripe with plums and damsons in early autumn. Frog Street is a dream; peace and quiet, fresh air, and all you need for the perfect large group stay. Book today!
