Axe Valley Wildlife Park, Kilmington, Axminster, Devon

This little zoo near Axminster is a bit of a hidden gem in the beautiful Axe Valley in East Devon; it’s just off the A35 and only about five or ten minutes from the coast so you could easily plan a day out to include a visit here, and then on to the seaside. That will give you time to see the animals, feed the birds and maybe even handle a snake or tarantula.

Things are more geared towards the under 12’s at Axe Valley Wildlife Park so definitely one if you have littl’uns in your group, and most areas are accessible for pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There’s plenty of parking, toilets and baby changing, a play area and a covered picnic barn, or if you prefer, a small café where they serve light lunches and snacks.

You can book in advance for 1 hour Animal Experiences with lemurs, meerkats, reptiles or wallabies, for the over 7’s, or they do Keeper for a Day Experiences. Worth considering if you have a youngster in your party with a birthday whilst you’re on your large group holiday.

Open: 10.00am-5.00pm every day but Monday when they’re closed.
