Apple Bay Bar & Restaurant, Bradford-on-Tone, Taunton , Somerset

Apple Bay Bar & Restaurant is part of Sheppy’s Cider, on the road between Taunton and Wellington; Sheppy’s is a good place to visit when you’re on your group holidays in Somerset because if you go there you can find out how this synonymous West Country drink is made, look around the museum and have a tour of the factory and farm. If that’s not particularly your thing, you should still try the restaurant, because it’s very good and lots of people go to Sheppy's just for that reason.

The ambience at Apple Bay Bar & Restaurant is great; it feels very vibrant, and the décor sits nicely with the whole Sheppy’s Cider experience; exposed brick walls, wooden floors, rustic style benches - you know, that kind of vintage-with-a-raw-industrial-edge that’s well on trend right now. As you’d expect there’s a mahoosive focus on local food and drink here, so expect a good choice of beers and of course, ciders. The menu is described as ‘elegant and wholesome’, and as it should, it changes with the seasons. To give you an idea, on the sample menu for lunches are Braised lamb shoulder with creamed potato, roasted veg and red wine sauce, Honey Roasted ham with new potatoes, mixed greens and parsley cream sauce, and Goats cheese salad with beetroot and nuts.

Look out for the events they do – like The Vintage High Tea and Afternoon Cream Tea. We can vouch for it - the food is delicious.
