Anchorstone Café, Dittisham, Devon

If you get a chance to go to the Anchorstone Café in Dittisham you should because what they serve is amazingly tasty seafood – and if you know anything about the waters in these parts you’ll know that the quality of what they catch round here is among the best in the world. The setting is wonderful, right on the banks of the River Dart with gorgeous views over the estuary to the beautiful countryside of the South Hams.

What’s on the menu? Things like Elberry Cove Mussels, Lobster Salad, Local Hand-Dived Scallops, Start Bay Crab – and local pork pies and cheese. There’s lots more of course, but that gives you an idea of the variety and how fresh it all comes in. There’s no children’s menu, they just have smaller portions, which is how it should be.

Closed during the winter but open every day from around the end of March to the end of September.
