Widcombe Village, Bath, Somerset

Widcombe is more a suburb of Bath but it does still have a certain ‘villagey’ charm, with a primary school, a parish church and even a manor house. It’s where the River Avon meets the Kennet & Avon Canal, and there’s a wide main parade lined with gorgeous Georgian buildings that are home to a range of independent shops and places to eat, like the White Hart or the Ring O Bells. It’s not far at all from the centre of Bath – the railway and bus stations are just across the river, but it won’t take you long on foot so if you fancy somewhere as bit quieter for a browse round and a bite to eat, go and explore.
