Tides Reach - Accommodation
There’s something very special about Tides Reach, you’ll realise that the minute you step through the door. At the end of a private lane, this luxury large group holiday house stands at the edge of the Severn estuary with distant views of the Black Mountains of Wales. With its historic look and Dutch gabled frontage, you’d think Tides Reach has been here for centuries; in fact it was built in recent years, to a high spec, which means it’s got all the mod cons, including air con and underfloor heating.
So in you go, to the wide hallway, where stairs sweep off to one side. To the right there’s a cloakroom and next to it, the dining room where a long table seats you all for those happy celebration feasts. To the left is the TV Room and the lift, giving access to all floors; straight ahead is the large kitchen and living room. To one end, the kitchen is well equipped and has a smaller table that’s great for an early breakfast or for children at teatime. At the other end of the room the living area has sofas to curl up on; in the middle of the room a full height bay windows and doors give access to a glass fronted balcony and views over the estuary.
Interiors are a wonderful blend of modern comforts and quirky style, a fusion of romantic, contemporary and traditional; there’s lots of vintage chic and antiques, French and rustic. It’s eclectic, but it really works, creating a very homely feel that will help you relax into your holiday. Leave your worries behind, enjoy the peace and quiet, put your feet up and watch the ever-changing scene of rushing tides the second fastest in the world), passing boats, gulls in flight, enormous wide skies and astonishing sunsets. On brighter days, that soft light that’s so unique to estuaries seeps into the house; it feels so calm and restful.
On the lower/garden level there’s a games room to one side, with table football and air hockey; pull back the glass doors and step out into the garden. Off left of the games room is Bedroom 7, with zip and link beds (super king or twin) and an ensuite wet room; to the other end there’s a utility room with laundry facilities.
On the first floor are Bedrooms 4-6 and a family bathroom. Bedroom 4 has an ensuite shower room. Bedroom 5 is the master bedroom of the house, a large access friendly room with a seating area to one end, and to the other, a huge ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bath and a wet area. Imagine lying in bed or in the bath, the curtains billowing in the breeze as you gaze out over the sea… This room can link through to Bedroom 6 to make a large family suite, or Bedroom 6 can use the adjacent family bathroom, with a Juliette balcony, and a bath with an overhead shower. Up on the top floor are Bedrooms 1-3; Bedrooms 1 and 2 have ensuite shower rooms and Bedroom 3 has an ensuite bathroom (see Floor Plans).
The gardens wrap around the side and back of the house, edged by the sea wall where the high tide laps gently; beyond is the saltmarsh and the estuary. At the back of the house a veranda leads on to lawns with a dog fence; to the side there’s a pretty coastal garden. On a warm summer day, there’s nothing better than to idle the time away with a soak in the hot tub and a leisurely barbecue out here, or on balmy evenings, to watch the sun slip below the horizon as the stars come out one by one.
