The Tuckers Arms, Dalwood, Axminster, Devon

A charming 13th century inn with a cobbled courtyard set more or less in the centre of the village. It’s a good one to come to after a walk in the East Devon hills or to make the effort to get to for dinner because the service is very attentive and the food is delicious. It’s very traditional inside, low ceilings, beams, two bars, a little restaurant, and an incredible collection of miniature spirit bottles, but there are no pretensions and that’s nice, especially when the food is so good. Try the Antipasti Platter, or their signature dish, the Belly Welly, or go on Sunday for a top notch roast. Portions are generous.
