The Glass House - Accommodation

Stay at The Glass House for your large group holidays in the UK and you’ll make extra special memories to keep forever. Hidden away in a secluded spot at the edge of a lake on a private estate, sheltered by trees and foliage, this place has attracted a lot of media and TV attention due to its incredible architecture. The accommodation is spread over 3 floors with a roof terrace, a wraparound balcony and private garden. Sustainability is at the forefront with triple glazing (tinted on the top floor so it doesn’t get too hot), air con, an air source heat pump, heat recovery system and solar panels; a full Home Automation system controls the lights, blinds and temperature around the house.

Stroll over the bridge to the house, step into a wide hallway, put your bags down and just take it all in. It’s incredible! Fused in light, thanks to the glass walls, it’s a complete harmony of landscape and interior, of architecture and nature. Interiors are striking yet simple because the focus is on that inside-outside living; sleek lines, crisp white walls, dark oak floors, it’s all very zen. Giant artworks adorn the walls, the lake is forever in your sights and nature is all around.

To your left is the staircase, carved from one hefty 500 year old tree, and then Bedroom 4, with a double bed and an ensuite white marble wet room. Go right in the hall to the TV Room, with sumptuous sofas to curl up on. Straight ahead of the hall steps lead down to the open plan kitchen and dining area, flooded with light, looking straight out onto the lake. The kitchen features some seriously big designer names and is incredibly well-equipped with a choice of gas, electric and steam ovens, and the biggest central island you’ve ever seen. Wander through from the dining area to the living room, separated partly by a glass fireplace; here, an enormous U-shaped sofa invites you to relax, to dream, and if you can tear your eyes away from those views of the lake, to maybe catch up on some TV. Full height glass doors slide back so you can step out onto the terrace and down to the water’s edge. Get up early and have coffee out there, listening to the ducks and the moorhens, laze away an entire afternoon with a barbecue together, have a swim in the lake. Amble down to the waterside garden, while away the happy hours.

Head downstairs from the hall to the basement, an incredible feat of architecture, being 3.5m below the water. On the right is the Spa Room with a hot tub, sauna and chill-out zone for post pampering, plus a shower and WC. Next to this there’s a utility room with laundry facilities, to the left is the games room with a full-size snooker table and a bar with candy floss and popcorn machines; grab your snacks and wander through to the fully-equipped 9 seater cinema room with leather recliners, top quality projection, dynamic lighting and a vibration based sound system. Underwater it may be but the basement has been cleverly designed with skylights that pull the light in.

Upstairs from the hall are Bedrooms 1-3, all with views that are a joy to wake up to. Bedroom 1 has a dressing room, a walk-in wardrobe, and a luxurious black marble ensuite shower room; in the bedroom itself there’s a bath, right by the window, views of the lake and the hills beyond. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are either side of the landing and have elegant white marble ensuite shower rooms; just outside the wind whispers in the treetops like a lullaby. If you can't quite leave work behind, there's also a very peaceful office space on this floor.

Creep up the stairs, through the electric skylight to the roof terrace where the views are panoramic; spend glorious days and starry nights out here, living the dream! Book the Glass House today for a large group holiday you’ll never forget!
