The Cotley Inn, Wambrook, Nr Chard, Somerset
A bucolic country inn at its best, tucked away amidst verdant hills in a quiet corner of South Somerset. Leave your troubles elsewhere when you come to The Cotley; the welcome is friendly, the service good and the food delicious so you can’t fail to be anything but relaxed the minute you step inside. Tuck into scrumptious home cooked fare created using the abundance of local produce this area brings forth; on the main menu are delights such as Roasted Breast of Guinea Fowl, Greens, Roasted Root Vegetables and Red Wine Jus, or Slow Roasted Belly Pork with Black Pudding Hash, Winter Greens and Jus. The Pub Classics are popular and the Sunday Roast is not to be missed; if you want something lighter there’s a good choice of sandwiches and ploughmans, and there’s even a menu for the kids.
When it’s cold sit by the fire and enjoy a pint of local ale; when it’s warmer sit outside in the garden and watch the ducks waddling about with a backdrop of glorious Somerset countryside. Take your pet pooch as dogs are most welcome and you’ll even find a bowl of water outside for them, and a jar of treats on the bar.
