Seaton Tramway, Seaton, Devon

Go to Seaton Tramway station at Seaton or Colyton, and climb on board a narrow gauge heritage tram for a leisurely ride along the Axe estuary, taking in the beautiful scenery of the Axe Valley and passing through two nature reserves along its 3 mile route. It’s something the whole family can do and worth keeping an eye out for are the event days they hold as they can be a lot of fun; in the summer they have a Fairy Special and a Dinosaur Tram Adventure, in October they do a sinisterly named Halloween Tram of Terror – yikes! Wildlife enthusiasts might like the bird watching trips and the wildlife and landscape photography tours; boys (and girls) of all ages will be tempted by a Drive a Tram Experience, surely?
If the barriers are down when you go over the crossing make sure you wave to the people sat waiting in their cars – it’s a bit of a custom and you know, it’s a nice thing to do, a bit of cheer makes the day so much better sometimes.
If you get off at Colyton go and have a bite to eat at the Tramstop Café where they serve hot and cold food during the operating season. In Seaton treat yourselves to fish and chips and go and sit on the sea wall to eat them.

Running times vary throughout the year. Dogs welcome
