Ronkswood Hill Meadows Local Nature Reserve, Worcester, Worcestershire

You wouldn’t expect to find a traditional farming landscape in the middle of a city these days but come to Ronkswood Hill Meadows Local Nature Reserve in Worcester in the summer and that’s what it’s like; cattle grazing contentedly, hedgerows looking pretty much as they would have in the 18th century. A good amount of biodiversity is thrown into the mix with patches of scrub and bramble, and ponds, so you never know what you might see, and the views of the cathedral and the distant Malvern Hills are pleasing. There are well walked paths through the fields and the livestock shouldn’t give you any jip but be sensible and keep your dog on a lead, under close control.
