My Great Grandfathers, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire

My Great Grandfathers is an award winning restaurant in the quiet Gloucestershire town of Tewkesbury; if fine dining in a charming historic building sounds like your kind of thing you really should try this place. You won't be disappointed, we'd put money on it. You see, the owners are so passionate about serving high quality food made with the best ingredients the seasons have to offer that they often get up ridiculously early in the morning to head off to wholesale markets to buy fresh fish, meat and vegetables. They take the time to meet and talk to the people who catch, raise and grow the produce so they can be sure it's top notch stuff - five week hung beef for dry aged steaks, daily fish from the boats in Cornwall, fresh lobsters and crabs for fishcakes.

Mains from the A La Carte menu include Fillet Mignon & twice baked cheesy souffle & creamy brandy & peppercorn sauce, Crab cakes & king prawn with mango & Yuzu chilli salsa with sesame dressing, and Chateau Briand & twice baked cheese souffle with Chateau roast vegetables and Bearnaise. Desserts? Rum caramelised banana & toffee creme brulee, Homemade Turkish Delight pieces with Turkish Delight ice cream and a brandy basket, Lychee & lemon sorbet.... oh! The wine list is excellent of course, and it includes delights from English vineyards, well worth trying.

The restaurant is family run and is named after the owner's grandfather and great grandfather, a local man who worked at a nearby village bakery/grocer and created famous handmade bad recipes that are still used by My Great Grandfathers to this day using flour milled in the Cotswolds
