Millside Restaurant, Lyme Regis, Dorset

We like Millside Restaurant in Lyme Regis, we like how it’s tucked away in the oldest part of the town so if you didn’t know it was here and you stumbled across it you’d be delighted; a very serendipitous moment indeed. The whole area beside the River Lym has been developed in recent years with the old town mill now housing an art gallery and café, and an artisan microbrewery across the courtyard.  It’s the kind of place where people happily potter about and like to linger because it’s all so nice.

Menus are seasonal at Millside Restaurant, which is exactly how it should be. That way you know that they make the best of fresh, local ingredients, which in this case, includes fish from the days’ catch that’s brought into the harbour the other end of town.  Treat yourselves to a three course dinner and you’ll be faced with choices like Lyme Bay hand dived scallops, Pan fried duck foie gras, and Steamed Devon clams for starters. Moving on to mains, you could have Whole grilled brill, Monkfish noodle soup or a Chargrilled West Country ‘tomahawk’ steak. Puddings of course, are equally enticing; honey roasted figs with ginger gelato, chocolate fondant with clotted cream vanilla ice cream…

Inside it’s light and airy, the service is very attentive, the food, needless to say is mouth watering.
