Ginger Peanut, Bampton, Devon
The Ginger Peanut became the new kid on the block in Bampton in January 2018 and is already attracting the kind of publicity it deserves; an award winning chef, relaxed dining, top notch service from staff who really know their stuff – it all helps.
The décor is on-trend ambient; well chosen colours that work really well with the stylish furnishings and quirky accessories. You feel at home and that’s another thing that’s good about it; you feel comfortable, the wine is good, you know you’re going to get delectable food; it’s a Happy Place.
The food? Out of this world. Truly. A work of art created from local produce with gusto and passion. Dingley Dell pan-fried Pork Tenderloin & BBQ Shoulder of Pork, Carrot & Cumin Puree, wilted baby Spinach, Colcannon; Monkfish Tail, Gnocchi Potato, Wild Mushrooms, Garlic, Pancetta, White Wine & Cream; Wild Garlic & Butternut Squash Arancini, medley of Mediterranean Vegetables, Tomato Dressing. There are steaks, and a Sunday lunch menu of roast beef, roast turkey or fish pie for mains; nice to have a choice. Their aim is simple: to become the best restaurant in Devon, and looking at the reviews, they might well get there.
Unusual for this neck of the woods, Ginger Peanut has two rooms that can be closed off for private dining; a serious option if you’re a group of 6-20. Book one of them for lunch, tea, dinner, or canapes and drinks, even when the restaurant and bar are closed.
The bar serves, tea, coffee, cakes and drinks Wednesday to Saturday 10.00am-late and Sunday 12.00-6.00pm. The restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday 12.00-2.30pm and 6.00pm-9.30pm, and Sundays 12.00-4.00pm
