Deepdene Trail, Dorking, Surrey

Well this is fascinating and as it’s only 15 minutes from the middle of Dorking, it’s something the whole family can do. The historic Deepdene gardens were created in the 17th century but fell into rack and ruin many years ago. You can download an App onto your phone that guides you around and shows you how it was in the 1800s when it was a beautiful Regency landscape. There were terraces, grottoes and natural tunnels – a project is ongoing to restore the Mausoleum, the Embattled Tower and the grotto. Look out for Coady, a cast of one of the original Coade stone lions that graced the original garden.
