Cross Lane House Hotel, Allerford, Somerset
Exquisite. This award winning hotel dates back to 1545 and is open to non-residents for the most relaxing lunches, afternoon tea, and dinner. If you’re staying nearby at Bossington Hall you should go here, particularly if you are celebrating something special. The restaurant is superb, the décor divine; on the evening menu are mouth-watering delights such as Cannon of Lamb with Red Wine Jus, Truffle Oil Mash and Seasonal Vegetables, Cod Loin with Sundried Tomato Bisque, Dauphinoise Potato and Seasonal Vegetables, and Forest Mushroom Mezzaluna Pasta with Truffle Oil and Parmesan.
In the warmer months you can sit outside in the garden, and you’d be hard pushed to find a better setting for an elegant afternoon tea of delicate sandwiches, home made cakes and if you wish, a glass of bubbly. The backdrop of Exmoor scenery is spectacular.
Open: Tues-Sat for lunch, high tea and dinner, and also on Sun 2.30pm – 4.00pm for afternoon tea Booking essential with 48 hours notice required.
