Cowslip Manor - Accommodation
You’ll be so excited when you arrive at Cowslip Manor (it’s leaving that’s the hard part) because this country house and it’s 3 cottages set together in the Somerset countryside is such a contrast to the hectic pace of life in the big towns and cities. Here there’s a world of peace and tranquillity, where life slows down and Relaxation comes with a big fat capital R. It’s a brilliant place to stay for all kinds of large group holidays or short breaks, from multi-generational family celebrations and sophisticated hen weekends to wellness retreats and corporate breaks that will leave a lasting impression. Let’s dive in, starting with the Main House, which sleeps 10, in all its Victorian splendour.
Step into the wide hallway, go into the formal dining room on your left or the drawing room on the right. Straight ahead is the breakfast room, leading through to a very spacious and well-equipped kitchen, and onto a handy utility room. From here you can go into the living room which is also accessed from the hall. Pad upstairs to Bedrooms 1-4 on the first floor, all with ensuite shower rooms. Bedrooms 1 and 2 also have a free standing bath tub thoughtfully positioned in front of the windows, giving you views over the garden; if you’ve ever wanted to sleep in a four poster bed, better bagsie Bedroom 1 – it's a beauty, made of exquisitely carved oak. Bedroom 5 is on the second floor and has an ensuite shower room.
Across the courtyard at the back of the house, Cowbane Cottage is loft style living period style, so it’s all on the first floor. There’s an open plan kitchen/living room with an optional pull-out sofa bed for 2, and to either end Bedrooms 6 and 7, plus a shower room.
Cowberry Cottage sleeps 6; on the ground floor there’s an open plan kitchen/dining/living room, a laundry room and loo; upstairs are Bedrooms 8-10, outside there’s a private patio with garden furniture.
Out in the grounds overlooking the pond and the orchard is Bedstraw Cottage, a cute and cosy chalet for 2 with Bedroom 11, a small kitchen, shower room and veranda.
Next to the Main House a large bespoke conservatory leads through to the Gathering Room; think of it as a blank canvas to enjoy as you please; get together for a buffet or celebration feast cooked by private chefs (see Extras), put on some music and show off your dance moves, chill the vibe for yoga and meditation workshops. Below the Gathering Room is the pool house, all yours for the whole of your stay. That means your own indoor pool, a sauna, a gym, changing rooms and treatment rooms; yep, all geared up for pampering on private spa breaks.
The grounds are huge, with room to wander and to play; get the steaks sizzling in the BBQ lodge, amble nonchalantly through the apple orchard when it’s full of blossom in the spring, linger by the pond watching the ducks dabble and dragonflies dance.
