Chateau de la Gataudière Adventure Park makes a good day out for several reasons, but first and foremost has to be the fact that there really is something for all ages. Those with more sedate tastes will appreciate the imposing chateau and the delights on show to the public - exquisite Louis XIII and Louis XIV furniture, a naval museum, an exhibition of hunting trophies and even a traditional horse drawn carriage. What’s significant is that this has all been in the same family since Chateau de la Gataudière was built in 1749.
The chateau is set in vast parkland and like many other these days, the owners have had to diversify to help foot the huge bills that are a day to day part of the upkeep of such a historic house. Those immense grounds have been put to good use and what’s more, there’s a lot of fun to be had there, for families, friends and corporate team building groups. There’s a 650m track for dirt, scramble and quad bikes, paintball for age 14+, laser tag for age 7+, and an exhilarating treetop obstacle course for anyone between 4 and 77 years. Get your sensible shoes on!
