Bean Goose Barn - Accommodation

It’s hard to believe that Bean Goose Barn used to be stables and a haybarn; this gorgeous holiday house with its rustic red brick exterior has since been so carefully converted, it feels like it’s been this way forever. The feels are mellow and gentle throughout, interiors are homely and stylish, the whole place seems to have a very special magic about it. That’s why it’s such a lovely place to stay for a big family holiday, for two families with young children, or for a multi-generational break in the country. Bean Goose Barn is also ideal for when you’ve got something significant to celebrate but you don’t want a party, you’d rather keep it low key and spend it with the people you love most in the world. Maybe Grandpa’s 70th birthday - there’s room for Gran and Grandpa, Aunts and Uncles and all the children to celebrate and make happy memories.

The entrance to Bean Goose Barn is exactly where the original barn doors would have been – now they’re full height glass so the daylight slips in and fills the house; step into the open plan kitchen/dining room where there are Shaker style units and right in front of the window, a big wooden table that comfortably seats 8. At the far end of the room is Bedroom 3 which has zip and link beds that you can have arranged as a super king or two singles.

To the right of the kitchen is Bedroom 4, which also has zip and link beds; just next door is a very on-trend shower room with a large walk-in rainfall shower. From the kitchen/dining room an industrial style staircase leads up to the open plan living room which has far reaching views of the Somerset countryside. The style is simple and modern yet it’s still such a cosy room with ambient lighting, a TV and for those chillier days and nights, an easy-to-use wood-burner. To one end of the room a door opens to the parking area, so if you’re sleeping in one of the first floor bedrooms, that’s the best way to bring your bags in.

Bedroom 1 is at the far end of the living room and sleeps 2 in a king size bed. Bedroom 2 is at the other end of the living room and has zip and link beds, so super king or twin; next to it there’s a bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. The very current interiors at Bean Goose Barn have been carefully chosen and are a contrast to the centuries-old essential character – but it really works and the result is a holiday house for 8 that has plenty of space and feels very relaxing.

At the front of Bean Goose Barn there’s an enclosed garden; just outside the door there’s a large patio with a gas barbecue and outdoor seating; to one side there’s a quirky wood fired hot tub, and beyond is the lawn. Whether it’s winter and you’ve come back all wet and muddy from a walk in the lanes, or whether it’s summer and you’ve spent the whole day contentedly idling in the garden, you’ll be glad you’re here. Bean Goose Barn is a lovely place to stay for holidays and short breaks any time of the year; fresh and airy in the summer, warm and snuggly in the winter. Come and stay – unhurried days and restful nights await you. Book today!
