When you come for your large group holidays at Withymans, the pet pooch gets to come too and what’s more he’ll have his own special place to sleep, room to run around and play, and plenty of exciting walks in the surrounding countryside. Grab the lead and go and explore the Somerset Levels; you’ll find old drovers paths and tracks along the rhynes (pronounced REENS), winding country lanes and wide open moors - it’s all so unique, with a beauty entirely of its own.
Have a stroll up through the woods to the Burton Pynsent Monument at Curry Rivel, or take an amble along the River Tone to Burrow Mump. Walk along the river at Langport, or head out to one of the nature reserves in this part of the world – Turn Hill, Catcott Lows and Westhay Moor are all very tranquil, though you’ll need to keep your mutt on a lead as the wetlands of the Levels attract a lot of birdlife.
Further afield you can take your faithful friend to Glastonbury Tor, or head out for a day exploring the Blackdown Hills, the windswept plateaus and craggy gorges of the Mendips, the rufty-tufy Quantocks, or the heather clad heaths and steep rolling valleys of Exmoor. It’s all so beautiful, get out there, be a part of it!
