Step into a bright and airy entrance hall that leads via double glass doors to a spacious living room where big fat sofas await you, and a huge flatscreen TV with Sky; pick a film, get big bowls of popcorn and settle down for a movie night. Like most of the rooms at Wayside, this is a lovely place to just sit and chat and admire the incredible views across the Culm Valley and the Blackdown Hills

The kitchen is big, bright and airy, and stylishly modern, with a walk-in larder, and everything you need for catering whilst on holiday. Just imagine you all sat around that big dining table tucking into a scrumptious dinner; that's the sort of thing that large group holidays are all about, and if cooking for a lot of people seems a bit of a chore you can call in one of our tried and tested professional caterers and they'll come and create a feast you'll never forget; several of our guests opt for this if they're celebrating a big birthday or a major event.

Off the kitchen you'll find a useful utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer; the perfect place to leave your muddy boots and coats when you come back from a country walk. Right next to the dining area is a wonderful sun room, with air conditioning and doors opening onto the terrace; the TV makes this a perfect second sitting room.

A contemporary stainless steel and glass staircase leads from the wide hallway to a galleried landing on the first floor. Off this is Bedroom 1, with a king-size bed and a single bed, plus there's room for a cot, so it's a perfect room for families with young children. If you don't travel light, you'll be glad to know there's a roomy walk-in wardrobe! The clean uncluttered style continues in the en suite bathroom, which has a well sized walk-in shower.

Bedroom 2 is a cosy room with twin beds and use of the main bathroom just across the landing. The bedrooms are all finished in soothing neutral tones which helps to ensure a restful nights' sleep; soft lamplight makes it all so cosy.

Bedroom three can also be used as a family room as it has a double bed and a single bed; right next to it, Bedroom 4 also has a double bed, and both rooms have use of the large family bathroom.

Just across the courtyard from the main house is the Annexe Suite; another room with a king size bed and a single bed, and it has an en suite shower room. As it's away from the main part of the house this room is ideal for those who like to have their own space; it's often a good choice with grandparents or couples with a young child, and sometimes with teenagers who can access the games room next door without disturbing anyone else.

You can also get to the games room via French doors from the courtyard though, which keeps it all nice and separate. It's a good space for hanging out and it has a pool table, air hockey and a big TV with Sky. Bring some drinks out, have a family games night, get everyone joining in the fun.

One of the highlights of Wayside has to be the pool; heated and covered, it can be used any time of year, and it has its own wet room and a changing room in an adjacent building. There's plenty of room around the edge for loungers so you can really spend some long lazy days out here, no matter what the weather's doing.

At the front of the house is a big level terrace (NB: there are steps to diffferent areas); in traditional country house style it has a ha-ha so you must be careful and toddlers should be supervised at all times as it's quite a drop. The terrace is quite a suntrap and the views are an absolute delight; there's plenty of sturdy garden furniture, a gazebo and a big barbecue, so it's the perfect spot for dining alfresco, and whilst you're waiting for the steaks to sizzle you can have a soak in the hot tub or a session in the gorgeous barrel sauna. The younger members of your party will be happy too as there's plenty of room for them to run around and let off steam; there's a secure play area with a big chunky climbing frame and a trampoline, and there's outdoor table tennis.

Oh what bliss! And we haven't told you about the Nordic style BBQ lodge yet; it's quite magical - twinkly fairy lights, reindeer hides, and you really can have a barbecue in here so it's a great rainy weather option, and there's plenty of room for you all to get together, play cards, tell jokes, and swap stories long into the night. Happy, happy holidays! Book today!
