From village pub to top notch large group holiday home, just a few miles from Bath and only 2 hours travel time from London; The Plough is packed with wow factor, not just from the impressive size of the place but also from the look, the feel and what’s there. The décor throughout the house is crisp and contemporary with gorgeous colours on the walls and colourful, well-chosen accessories; it all works, that’s the thing, it’s all very stylish and trendy and it blends with the original features to perfection.

Step into a lobby that leads off to the kitchen on the left; light and airy with all you need to rustle up a scrumptious dinner and to one end there’s a table that’s handy for breakfasts or for feeding the kids when they need to eat earlier than the grown ups. This is a kitchen where you can be cooking, singing and dancing all at once - it's a very sociable space.

In the dining room the original bar remains - a quirky feature with its own drinks fridges, and there are two big long tables to seat you all for dinner. Wood flooring, exposed Bath stone walls, thick oak beams and a fireplace with a wood-burner add atmosphere and charm. A door opens to an attractive paved courtyard that faces onto the lane.

Go through to the commodious sitting room where you’ll find colourful sofas and a widescreen TV; gather together in here for a movie night, have a game of pool and step out of the French doors into the courtyard when you fancy a spot of fresh air; it’s all made for happy sociable holidays.

The sleeping quarters are all at the other end of the house; 11 ensuite bedrooms on two floors with 9 of them having zip and link beds that can be arranged as superkings or twins and the other two being a double and a twin; most have an outlook over the lane and the fields to the hills beyond.

Upstairs are Bedrooms 1-7; Bedroom 1 is a double aspect room that sleeps 4 people in zip and links and bunk beds, making it a great family room. It has an en suite bathroom with a bath and an overhead shower.

Bedrooms 2-5 all have a view of the fields and distant hills, and well sized en suite shower rooms. Bedroom 2 can also accommodate a single bed (charged extra), Bedroom 3 has a double bed rather than zip and links, and Bedroom 4 has an additional single bed so can sleep 3 people.

A small hallway leads to Bedroom 6; there’s an ensuite shower room and zip and link beds plus a single and an extra (charged) truckle bed – again, perfect for a family of 4. Right down the end of the landing, Bedroom 7 overlooks the rear courtyard and has an en suite shower room.

Downstairs Bedrooms 8-10 have shower rooms, and Bedroom 10 is another room that can sleep 3 as there’s a single bed as well as the zip and links. Bedroom 11 is arranged as a twin room and it has en suite shower facilities.

Outside there’s a large patio, so when the sun is shining get out there and dine alfresco beneath the leafy arbour; have a long, lazy barbecue, stay and chat under the twinkly lights long into the small hours. In front of this is a lawn where you can play croquet and beyond that a privately owned paddock and views of the Mendip Hills. To the side of the house is another lawn and a patio with garden furniture and a covered hot tub.
