Have a sophisticated hen weekend, country house style at The Old Rectory within the Quantock Hills AONB; spacious bedroom suites, high ceilings, wood-burning stoves, sea views, sweeping lawns, a private courtyard with a big hot tub - and a long list of ideas to fill your weekend (see our Extras and Things To Do pages). This is definitely one for the more discerning ladies.
Picture an evening starting with drinks and chit chat on the lawns... glasses raised, your gorgeous girls dressed up to the nines, and then moving through to the elegant dining room for a lavish celebratory dinner cooked for you by one of our highly recommended caterers, all rounded off by settling down in front of an open fire to relax and chatter away til the small hours.
Book a pamper afternoon with one of our mobile therapists and enjoy a relaxing massage or a cleansing facial; try a cheeky life drawing class, or a craft session making vintage corsages, garters or bunting; have a giggle with a belly dancing class - and get our portrait photographer to capture those happy moments. Book up for a chilled out pub lunch, or in the warmer months dine alfresco in the beautiful gardens. While away a couple of hours unwinding in the grounds; enjoy a game of croquet on the lawns surrounded by gorgeous scenery with views of the sea. And you'll definitely want to take advantage of that hot tub - imagine sitting back with your best buddies, a velvet sky studded with stars, clear night air .... bliss!
If you want to get out and about take your hens off to the county town of Taunton for some retail therapy, a stroll around Vivary Park where there's a high ropes adventure centre, or to a visit to the Museum of Somerset. Board a steam train with the West Somerset Railway (you can even book your own carriage) and alight at Blue Anchor or Watchet on the coast for fish and chips and a bottle of wine or two on the beach.Step out from the doorstep for a leisurely stroll through the glorious countryside, climb one of the beautiful coombes to reach the bracken topped heaths, or have a horseback tour of the Quantock Hills with Quantock Trekking followed by afternoon tea at their headquarters. Exmoor National Park is close by and there's no end of things to see and do; hike over the moors and see wild ponies grazing, stroll along the river at Watersmeet or Tarr Steps, have a cream tea at Kitnor's Tea Rooms at Bossington, go and pootle about at Porlock Weir, have a walk through Horner Woods, see the ancient castle that stand above the pretty village of Dunster. Happy times, happy memories, that's what it's all about.
