We're dog lovers here at Sleeps 12 and we like to take our dogs everywhere with us, so we perfectly understand that you don't want to leave your pets in kennels or with friends when you go off for your large group holiday in the West Country. Well, the good news is that The Granary is dog friendly, so you can pack the lead, the bowl and the toys, and bring your pet pooch with you when you come to stay.
And won't that tail be wagging! There are so many places for your woofer to get his exercise round these parts; the Quantock Hills are right on the doorstep, and the scenery is so varied - you've got shaded woodlands (a picture when the bluebells are out in the spring), rugged heathland, big open fields, and a dramatic coastline. Head to Ramscombe Great Wood for a walk amongst some very tall fir trees, or have an amble from Kilve to East Quantoxhead, taking in an old chantry and a medieval manor as well as some great fossil hunting territory. If you go up to Nether Stowey you can trek over the hill and climb Holford Combe to wander the bracken-clad heathtops - just like the famous romantic poets Wordsworth and Coleridge did; maybe you'll feel inspired to write some poetry too! Stop for refreshments in one of the dog friendly inns, or take a picnic and find a spot with a glorious view of the Somerset countryside and the Bristol Channel. Wills Neck is the highest point in the hills but Cothelstone Hill and Lydeard Hill are just as good.
There are several dog friendly beaches along the Somerset coast - like Doniford and Watchet Harbour and Kilve. Take your pet with you on day trips to Exmoor or the Somerset Levels, where you'll find walks of all lengths in some very diverse landscapes and no doubt a dog friendly tea shop or two where they might even give your furry friend a biscuit.
Note: Two dogs are welcome at this property and must be added when you make your booking. A charge of £50 per dog will then be applied to the booking total.
