The combination of up-to-the-minute luxury and top notch facilites make it a fantastic self-catering house for all kinds of group stays. to the left of the entrance hall is the amazing indoor swimming pool with room around the edge for loungers, and huge doors that you can pull right back to make it more a part of the outdoors on warmer days.
To the right of the hall is the enormous open-plan living space with a top-notch kitchen kitted out with all mod cons and having plenty of room for catering for your large group holiday. The dining area has a bespoke table right in the middle, perfect for those scrumptious feasts!
It's also a brilliant size for professional caterers if you book them to come in and cook you a celebratory meal or to do drinks and canapes on a summers evening. The extra oven and the ice making machine will certainly come in handy at times like that! Beyond the dining table there's a commodious U-shape sofa where you can all put your feet up and chill out to watch an exciting movie or catch that all-important big match. Grab yourselves big bowls of popcorn and get comfy!
Next to the kitchen is the games area with a pool table and a big TV with Sky; what's great is that you can all be together in this vast living space, catching up with one another and relaxing as a group, which is just how it should be. You can cook, have a glass of wine, chat - even dance around; one big happy mingle! The whole of the living/entertaining area is flooded with natural light from floor to ceiling windows and doors that open out onto the patio, a real sunspot in the warmer weather. Warm oak beams, feature brick walls and country themed accessories add to the ambience.
Off the games area there's a utility room with a WC, an extra fridge-freezer and dishwasher, and laundry facilites. Beyond this is Bedroom 1, access friendly with an en suite shower room and doors that open onto the patio at the side of the house. The views are of open fields and gorgeous Somerset countryside. The Granary sleeps 18 in 9 ensuite bedrooms and there's room for a further 6 people at an extra charge per person, and remember that all beds are zip and link so you can have them arranged as superkings or twins, it's entirely up to you.
On the first floor are six of the generously proportioned bedrooms, all with ensuite facilites - three with showers and three with a bath and shower. Two of these bedrooms have Juliette balconies and most have full height doors allowing you to soak up those glorious views and the natural daylight to pour in. Bedrooms 6 and 7 both have room to accommodate one extra bed; good family rooms for couples with one child, or good for three friends when arranged as three single beds.
On the second floor, two further bedrooms with Juliette balconies and shower rooms have shared use of a small kitchenette with a sink, fridge and ice box, and a kettle. Thought and consideration has been employed here as it's a long way down to the main kitchen, plus if you use these rooms as family rooms and you have babies it's not far to go to the kitchen for bottles, etc.
That's where these two bedrooms really do come into their own - for families, as both of them have capacity for two extra beds. Right in front of the Juliette balcony, each room has a freestanding bath tub; imagine lying back in the bubbles and gazing out over the fields - now that's mindfulness for you!
The whole property has an outlook of wide open fields and big skies; imagine being out on the patio with the immense countryside stretched out before you, no traffic, no one else to bother you. The outdoor kitchen is awesome - not just plenty of seating, but also a built in gas barbecue with room for slicing and dicing and for keeping food warm - it's all been so well thought out!
On those particularly hot days when you've had enough of the sun on the patio just go and have a splash in the pool, that's the beauty of it, everything you need is right there, no traipsing off anywhere with all your gear, it's all just a few steps away, and it's all yours to enjoy. Just outside the pool room is the hot tub, well positioned for sitting back and chattering away; stay out there til it's late, idling the hours away beneath the stars.
The patio is huge and has more than enough furniture to lounge about on; eat at the outdoor kitchen or at the big round table with rattan armchairs. If you've got younger children in your large group they'll have heaps of room to run about on the lawns and there's a sturdy wooden climbing frame that will keep them happy for hours.
And do you know what? Even if the weather is misbehaving, it doesn't matter at The Granary; it's certainly not going to spoil your stay because apart from the indoor pool and the games area, there's a Nordic style BBQ lodge, where you can sit round beneath the twinkly lights with reindeer hides to keep you warm. Enjoy delicious chargrilled food, toast marshmallows; you'll probably find you're still out there swapping stories and telling jokes long into the night.
You see, The Granary is a place you can come to year round; it's just as perfect in the winter as it is in the summer. The underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and the first floor keeps it lovely and cosy, so you can come back from a country walk and it's all lovely and warm for you to settle down on the sofas for the evening. If you're thinking of getting away with your nearest and dearest for Christmas or New Year's Eve, you'd be hard pushed to find more suitable large group accommodation.
