The Cottage Beyond allows 2 dogs, which is great news if you were dreading the prospect of leaving the pet pooch in kennels when you head off for your large group holiday in Somerset. As this big holiday cottage has a huge garden and is set amidst 180 acres of glorious private farmland there are plenty of opportunities to exercise your dog; right from the doorstep you can wander up to the woods where there are log swings and picnic benches so you can make an afternoon of it, mutt in tow. There are footpaths, bridleways and winding country lanes to explore and just a few miles away you can stroll up to Wellington Monument and enjoy panoramic views that seem to reach on forever across the landscape. The beautiful Blackdown Hills offer a world of discovery; take an amble along the River Culm, go up to the summit point at Culm Beacon (oh, those views, those views) and then head back down to Culmstock for a refreshing pint at the Culm Valley Inn. You’ll love the tranquility of Otterhead Lakes – take a picnic with lashings of lemonade, or pop into the Holman Clavel afterwards; have a hike around the Forestry Commission Land at Staple Hill or Castle Neroche – part of it is a nature reserve and there’s an access friendly vantage point.

If you go for a day out in the Quantock Hills or to Exmoor National Park there’s no end of doggie walking territory, and within easy reach of The Cottage Beyond there are dog friendly beaches on the Somerset Coast and the Jurassic Coast. Fun for all the family, furries included – a happy holiday all round!
