You'll love everything about The Cottage Beyond, from the drive through the leafy Somerset lanes, the fantastic location, and the impressive large group accommodation itself. Step into a wide open hallway with a handcrafted oak staircase leading to the first floor and huge windows giving staggering views across the valley. To the left of the hallway is a ramp that leads to the living room which wraps around one side of the house and continues through to the dining area. The whole of this space is light, bright and airy with full height windows and doors opening onto the terrace. There’s also a door through to the kitchen, so it's all very convenient, sociable and just perfect for those happy celebrations when you're all having a scrumptious feast around the dining table.
The kitchen is big and very well-equipped, which helps to take the stress out of catering for a large group; there's a big electric range oven, a large ceramic hob and a walk in larder. Accessed from the dining area or the hall, right next to it is a WC and wet room, and a snug. If you're fond of wildlife you'll enjoy watching the birds that come to the feeders outside of the snug and the kitchen; nuthatch, greater spotted woodpecker, longtailed tit and colourful bullfinch are regular visitors besides other birds often seen in the countryside.
To the right of the hallway there's a utility room with laundry facilities – handily, this can be accessed from outside, so you can come in and take off your wet coats and muddy boots and dry the dog off before you go and cosy up in the living room in front of the open fire. Right at the end of the ground floor is Bedroom 1, which has an en suite wet room, and zip and link beds (superking or twins) plus an additional single and room for another if required (no charge) - so what a great room for a family! Note that the ground floor of The Cottage Beyond is access friendly and can accommodate wheelchairs.
Upstairs are Bedrooms 2-6. To the left right down the end of the long landing is Bedroom 2, with an en suite shower room and room for 2 extra single beds (small additional charge); what's lovely about this room is the floor to ceiling windows, taking full advantage of those gorgeous far reaching views. Round to the left of the landing is Bedroom 3, which has use of an ample sized bathroom just opposite where there's a bath and a separate shower. Then there's Bedrooms 4, 5 and 6, also with en suite shower rooms. Remember that all beds are zip and link so can be arranged as superkings or twins - just select your options after you've made your booking and leave it to us.
The gardens are a delight, all landscaped, with a large patio, a lavender edged pergola, and meandering paths that slope gently round and about and lead to a play area, roundabout, trampoline, and to the spa hall across the lawn. And Wow with a big fat W! This is amazing! Seriously impressive! A keypad lock puts your mind at rest if you have little ones in your group, but when you all go out there together you'll have a wonderful time; huge windows look out onto the garden, there's a 13.5m long L-shaped pool (1.2m at the shallow end, 2m at the deep end), a sunken hot tub, sauna, changing rooms, showers and a WC. See? Told you it was impressive, didn't we?
You'll find several seating areas dotted around the garden; on the terrace outside the house is The Giant's Table - a huge bespoke outdoor table that really comes into its own on sunny days when you want to dine alfresco. There's also garden furniture on the patio outside the spa hall, and if you explore the farmland you'll find picnic benches in the woods - as well as log swings and a slide, a Boules pitch, an undercover games area. a Stamp Box challenge, and of course, animals to see. If you keep very, very quiet you might even spot the roe deer that come down to the fields to feed, and that somehow sums up The Cottage Beyond; it's perfect in every way; it's idyllic and magical and cannot fail to relax you, it's rapture.
