Pitsworthy is hard to beat for happy dog friendly holidays in the West Country, especially with all that open countryside on your doorstep and the whole of Exmoor to explore – there’s no shortage of walks for you and your canine companions! Climb to the summit of Dunkery Beacon for phenomenal views across the landscape, amble along the river at Watersmeet or Tarr Steps, go and discover the heather clad heaths where the chances are you’ll see Exmoor ponies feeding and herds of red deer in the wild.

The real beauty of a dog friendly holiday at Pitsworthy is that you don’t need to go anywhere at all; right next to the house is a fenced in field where you can take your furry friend for a game of fetch, there are tracks and trails you can follow up on to the gorse covered moors, and the Allcombe Water to paddle in. You’ll need to remember that from October to the end of January there are shoots held on the 1,500 acre estate and that there is livestock in the fields year round – but that’s not a problem because the estate manager will show you the best places to walk where you can enjoy the fresh air and staggeringly beautiful scenery.

The garden at Pitsworthy is plenty big enough for dogs to run around in and if you cross the bridge over the stream you can climb up through the woodlands at the front of the house. We suspect those tails just won’t stop wagging and your pooches will be in their element!

Note: Two dogs are welcome at this property and must be added when you are making your booking. A charge of £50 per dog will then be applied to the booking total.
