Our large group holiday houses in the West Country are very versatile and one thing a lot of them are spot on for is hen weekends. If you’re planning something altogether more refined than the night on the town that culminates in the bride-to-be being pushed around the streets in a shopping trolley, then we have the perfect answer; big country cottages for hen weekends.

Whether you just want to stay put and celebrate all weekend, or book an activity and go out to dine, Pink Thatch will suit you well. This gorgeous country cottage sleeps 15 and is packed to its exposed rafters with quirky rustic charm, but even better, it’s just SO stylish! There’s a hot tub in the garden where you can sit and chat as long as you like, provided you keep the noise down you can stay out there till the early hours of the morning with a big old sky full of stars shining down on you; because it's beneath a gazebo you can use it anytime of year, provided it's not blowing a hooley. Get caterers in to cook you up a fantastic feast, or book your own bartenders for cocktails and canapes (see Extras); throw open the big doors at the end of the dining room and spill out onto the terrace.

But say you want to go out, to do something. Well, that’s no problem because there’s loads to do round here. Wander up to Seend Locks, stroll along the towpath, have lunch at The Barge Inn, or walk to the Somerset Arms at Semington. Just a short drive away is Lacock with its historic abbey where some of the Harry Potter movies were filmed; you might time it right for a day at Bath Racecourse, dressing up and cheering on the nags, or you might fancy trying your shooting skills at Wadswick Shooting Stimulator.

If you’re a bunch of belles (and maybe a beau or two) with a penchant for retail therapy, well, head to Bath where you can shop till you drop, or do something more relaxing like visit Bath Abbey, The Fashion Museum, or go for a spot of pampering at Bath Thermae Spa. At Bradford On Avon you can have a trip on a narrow boat or for something more adventurous hire canoes from the Towpath Trail Hire Centre and take to the waters. If a stroll round a beautiful garden appeals you’re rather spoilt for choice – Bowood House and Gardens, Ilford Manor, Stourhead and Westonbirt Arboretum are all within easy reach.

And of course there are plenty of opportunities for walking around here in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, there are towns to browse like Marlborough, Salisbury, Castle Combe and Frome, which is well worth a visit when the Frome Independent Market is on – the whole town comes alive with street food, vintage and handmade delights.

Make it one to remember for all the right reasons; book your hen weekend at Pink Thatch today!
