Right on your doorstep there are tracks and footpaths just waiting to be explored; there's a delightful stroll through the woods and across the fields to the charming local pub, The Halfway House at Pitney. Spend a few hours browsing around the nearby market towns of Somerton and Langport, with interesting independent shops and eateries; get out into the heart of the Somerset Levels for some nature spotting and walks along the rhynes (pronounced reens), many lined with ancient pollarded willows. If you're in need of some retail therapy take yourself off to Clarks Village in Street, or the county town of Taunton; if myths and legends appeal head for Glastonbury with its colourful streets and famous Tor with panoramic views across the countryside. For day trips Bath and Bristol are both within easy reach, or there's Exmoor National Park, the North Somerset coast or the world renowned Jurassic coast, all within about an hour's drive.
