Well, here’s some good news for you if you don’t like to leave the family pooch behind when you go away for your large group holiday in Hampshire – Ortus House is happy to accept two well behaved dogs, just as long as you stick to the dog rules (see below). Isn’t that great? No need to leave your mutt behind looking all sad and forlorn at the kennels, pack all his gear and bring him along – after all, he’s very much one of the family too.

He’ll need his walkies of course so get up every morning and take him into the New Forest, just a few minutes stroll from the doorstep. The thing is, in this part of the world you’re spoilt for choice for walks, whether you prefer woodlands, open heaths, high cliff tops or walks along the shore. There’s an 8.5 mile Lyndhurst Parish Walk that's good to explore, or and have an amble amidst the stunning countryside at Picket Post in Burley, Wilverley Inclosure or Longslade Bottom. Have a wander along the Beaulieu River, maybe fidn a quiet spot for a picnic, and if you want to take him with you on a day out then it’ll help to know that several of the attractions near Ortus House are dog friendly – like The New Forest Centre in the village, the New Forest Reptile Centre, Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary and Exbury Gardens. For beaches we’d suggest Highcliffe, Milford on Sea and Mudeford Sandbank, though there may be dog restrictions in the summer season. One thing’s for sure, that tail will be wagging with delight, and it’s good to know that being a rural area, most of the pubs welcome dogs too so no missing out on the local brew or a relaxing pub lunch!

Note: Two dogs are welcome at this property and must be added when you are making your booking. A charge of £50 per dog will then be applied to the booking total.

There are strict dog rules to abide by at our properties, so please make sure you have read these before planning to bring your dog.

Dog Rules!

For the sake of protecting children whilst playing in the garden, and those guests who may be allergic to animal hair we would appreciate if you would abide by the following rules:

Please do not let your dogs on any of the soft furnishings.

Dogs are not allowed upstairs.

Dogs are not allowed in the swimming pools or any part of the pool room.

Please do not leave your dog in any of the living areas unattended or over night.

Dogs are not to be left alone in the property at any time (The only exception is if they are left in a secure cage)

Please dry your dogs before bringing them into the house.

Please be aware that the New Forest is home to many free roaming and farm animals, so you should keep your dog on a lead at all times unless you are absolutely certain that they will not chase or attack any livestock or wildlife.

On the day of your departure, please make sure that you have checked the grounds and removed all dog litter.

Failure to comply with the above may result in the loss of part or all of your deposit.

Thank you very much for your co-operation - have a wonderful doggie holiday!
