Before things start to get hectic with the wedding arrangements, give yourself a little break at this rural retreat in the Somerset countryside; it's just the ticket for sophisticated hen weekends; nice and private, with a big garden, and on the terrace there's a fantastic swimming pool, and because it's heated and covered you can use it anytime of year. Take a dip, relax on the loungers, stroll around the garden, have a picnic in the sun dappled shade of a tree, play croquet on the lawn; if you fancy something slightly more energetic you can have a game of outdoor table tennis. When the evening comes you can fire up the barbecue and eat outside, and later on, sit back in the hot tub and have a right old natter beneath the stars.
Inside, there's heaps of space, and it's all so light and airy that there's a very calm and restful feel about it; the interiors are a seamless blend of modern and classic, without being too traditional or fussy. There's certainly enough room for you to have an in-house class of some sort - have a look at our Extras page for inspiration; you might fancy a spot of cheeky life drawing, or cup cake decorating, or there are several dance lessons, which can be so much fun. Shake it Bollywood style, get those hips moving in a Belly Dance, or get flouncy with Flamenco! You can even book one of our trusty mobile therapists to come round and pamper you - total chill-out!
With everything that Millgrove House has got, provided you're stocked in with food and drink, you probably won't feel the need to go out, but if you do, you'll find heaps of ideas on our Things To Do Pages. If you want to get out and explore the gorgeous countryside around here you can head into the Blackdown Hills and walk for miles on footpaths through lush fields and shaded woodlands, and you can always find a welcoming country pub for lunch; just as close are the beautiful Quantock Hills, which take in part of the Somerset coastline; one of the best ways to see the sights is on horseback and Quantock Trekking do some great packages for hen parties. If you like the idea of a trip to the seaside go by steam train on the West Somerset Railway; plan ahead and book your own carriage, get dressed up vintage style and sip cocktails as you chug through the verdant scenery, then alight at Watchet and have a paddle in the sea. In about 45 minutes you can drive to the world famous Jurassic Coast where a trip to Lyme Regis is a must; walk along the historic Cobb, have fish and chips on the beach, head out to see for a mackerel fishing trip. Just a couple of miles away is Taunton, the county town, where there's good mix of shops and more places to eat than you can shake a stick at - we recommend Brazz for lunch and afternoon tea at the Castle Hotel. Have a stroll round Vivary Park and if you're feeling adventurous book up to go on the High Ropes; soak up some local history at the Museum of Somerset, go ten pin bowling, catch a big screen movie.
Back to Millgrove, splash in the pool, soak in the hot tub, drinks on the terrace. Perfect.
