Dating back to the 17th century, Jurston Barn is a wonderful blend of bygone charm and up-to-date facilities. It's attractive, spacious and welcoming; the stone floors have underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, and upstairs there's central heating so it's warm and toasty in the colder months of the year. In the summer it's glorious and you can open the full height doors of the pool room to make it more part of the outside; bring the sunshine in.

The living areas are flooded with natural light from the huge double doors; in Jurston Barn's former life as part of a working farm ,this was where the hayricks came in. There's an impressive glass-fronted entrance, and the dining area is bathed in light from the stunning glass roof; clean lines, uncluttered space and a long dining table to seat all 12 of you.

The enormous L shaped living/entertaining space has a handcrafted kitchen at one end; there's a large range cooker and inbuilt appliances, and in the corner, a big larder. Plenty of room and everything you need to prepare and cook a big slap-up dinner, but you know, some people don't fancy cooking whilst on holiday, so just book up one of our tried and tested caterers to come round and they'll create a feast fit for a king.

This is a very sociable space, with the dining area in the middle and at the other end are big fat corner sofas, so you can all be there together no problem; cooking, singing, dancing, there's room for all. Three of the bedrooms are on the ground floor,  2 with en suite wet rooms and 1 having a bathroom with a bath and overhead shower.

The games room is another bright and airy space; big fubsy sofas, a wood-burning stove, a pool table and table football. Tucked away in the corner, a staircase leads to a cosy snug area on a mezzanine floor; the perfect place to curl up and read a book, or just to sit and have a quiet chat.

The main stairs lead from the dining area to 3 double bedrooms, 2 with en suite shower rooms and 1 with a bath and an overhead shower. All bedrooms are calm and restful, finished in soothing neutral tones with the occasional splash of colour. Leave the window open a fraction, let the clean country air drift in whilst you sleep; you'll wake up feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed.

All of the beds at Jurston Barn are zip and link, so you can have them configured as superkings or twins; just let us know after you've made your booking and leave the rest to us.

Jurston Barn has a wonderful outlook; to the north are uninterrupted views across to the Brendon and Quantock Hills, and the unspoilt Blackdown Hills can be seen in the distance from the south of the property, with an immediate aspect over a charming parterre garden. Opposite the house is the pool hall; the garden is largely laid to lawn with shrubs and a wooded area, and for the little ones, a play area with a chunky climbing frame, swings, a slide, and a trampoline to boing about on.

At certain times of the day, the patio is quite a suntrap, and it's lovely to sit out there and enjoy the good weather; have afternoon tea or a barbecue, take your time, an unhurried meal with friends and family is surely one of the best pleasures in life. The patio outside the pool room is a sunspot too; you can imagine chilling out in the sunken hot tub, blue skies above, open air - bliss. And the thought of being able to take a dip in the pool anytime of day, now that's good, and the pool hall even has a changing room with a shower and a loo.
