Dating back to the 17th century, Jurston Barn is a wonderful blend of bygone charm and up-to-date facilities, with all you could need for your large group stay. What you'll notice is the undeniable sense of calm that seems to have pervaded the whole house, and the way the sunlight filters through at different times of the day. It's just so relaxing here, the perfect group accommodation no matter what time of year it is. The private indoor pool is a huge bonus, with room around the edge for loungers, and its own changing rooms with a shower and WC.

Once you're off the busier road a barely used sun-dappled lane takes you to Jurston Barn. Park up and go on in through the gate to the main entrance; floor to ceiling doors open into a huge open-plan kitchen/dining room, with a snug area at the end. Right in front of you is a long handcrafted dining table, and up above is a big glass roof that lets the day light pour in; by night this is quite a setting for celebration feasts; dine by the light of the moon and the twinkling stars. Note the chunky timbers and ceiling beams, some of them 400 years old!

To the left is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. To the right is the bespoke kitchen with plenty of storage and those swishy soft close drawers; there's a double oven range cooker with a 5 ring induction hob, a wine cooler and 2 dishwashers, and a tall fridge/freezer with a dispenser for ice-cold filtered spring water from the private water supply. There's plenty of room and everything you need to prepare and cook a big slap-up dinner, but if you'd rather not cook when you're on holiday book one of our tried and tested professional caterers to come in and create something very special for you - something a lot of Sleeps12 guests do if they're celebrating a big birthday or a milestone anniversary.

You see, the kitchen-diner was designed to be a very sociable space, with room for singing and dancing, and for putting your feet up on the big fat corner sofas in the snug area. Worried about missing that all-important big match whilst you're away? You don't need to, there's a big TV with a full Sky package here! The point is you can all be together and you'll still have plenty of space - and more importantly, the ground floor is access friendly and no-one is going to be left out because they're in the kitchen slicing and dicing. You can all mingle togther happily, sing Happy Birthday, raise a glass and tuck into a scrumptious feast.

Right of the kitchen-diner is the sitting room and games room, with a pool table and table football, so no doubt this will be where you'll find the kids hanging out - and possibly a few of the Dads too!  Commodious sofas mean you can put your feet up and completely unwind, and if the weather's turned, well, you can light the wood-burner and luxuriate in the warmth - an absolute delight to come back to after a country walk in autumn or winter. In the corner of the room, a staircase leads to a cosy snug area on the mezzanine; when the youngsters aren't up there with their games consoles plugged into the telly, this is a lovely spot for a quiet read.

There's snooze space on both floors, with three bedrooms downstairs and three upstairs, and what's great is that all beds are zip and link so you can select to have them arranged as superkings or twins. To the left off the kitchen/dining room is Bedroom 1, with French doors to the rear courtyard, an en suite bathroom that has a bath with an overhead shower and a buillt-in TV. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are either side of a small hallway at the back of the house; both are nice and roomy with en suite wet rooms.

The main stairs at Jurston Barn lead from the dining area to a big balcony landing that has a contemporary glass balustrade. Off this to the left is Bedroom 4, with an en suite bathroom that has a bath and an overhead shower; to the right is Bedroom 5, with an en suite wet room, and Bedroom 6, which has it's own shower room. Bedroom 6 has a quirky window in the back wall that follows the shape and height of the rustic beams that soar above the games room - one of those wonderful touches about Jurston Barn that you can't help admiring.

Because Jurston Barn is so self-contained and private it feels like a little world of your own; from upstairs you can see across to the Brendon and Quantock Hills to the north, and to the south, the unspoilt Blackdown Hills can be seen in the distance. Outside is a landscaped garden with lawns to laze on and where children can play; to the side there's a fantastic play area for them with a chunky climbing frame, swings, a slide, and a trampoline to boing about on. Right opposite the house is the pool hall and just outside on the patio is the hot tub.

At certain times of the day, the patio is quite a suntrap, and it's lovely to sit out there and enjoy the good weather; have afternoon tea or a barbecue, and really take your time over it; an unhurried meal with friends and family is surely one of the best pleasures in life. But that's what Jurston Barn is all about, life's pleasures; special times spent with your nearest and dearest, happy memories. Come and stay, come and unwind.
