Ilbeare welcomes well behaved dogs, which is great news as it means there's no need to leave your faithful friend behind in kennels when you come to stay here - so pack the lead, and the bowls, and the toys, cos' doggy's going to have a holiday too! There's certainly plenty to keep that tail wagging, with walks in the countryside right on your doorstep, and the glorious Quantock Hills just a few miles away with heaps of footpaths and bridleways, woodland walks and coastal paths. Pack a picnic and climb to the top of Wills Neck for spectacular views across to the Bristol Channel; walk from Ramscombe Great Wood to Cothelstone Hill, up to Triscombe Stone, or up Hodders Combe to the wild heathtops. One thing's for sure; you're never far from a dog friendly inn on the Quantocks; the Carew Arms at Crowcombe, the Plough at Holford and the Rising Sun at West Bagborough are all good.
A little further afield are the Blackdown Hills where Otterhead Lakes are a tranquil spot for a walk anytime of day and just up the road is the Holman Clavel, a lovely rustic pub with a warm welcome; just a few miles away is Staple Hill where you can follow one of the tails and end up at the Greyhound Inn at Staple Fitzpaine for lunch. You could even venture across to the mystical Somerset Levels and have a good old explore of some of the nature reserves, or climb up Glastonbury Tor or Burrow Mump. If you're planning a day at the seaside, you'll find several dog friendly beaches on the Somerset and Jurassic coasts, though be aware that some may have seasonal restrictions.
Note: Two dogs are welcome at this property and must be added when you are making your booking. A charge of £50 per dog will then be applied to the booking total.
