Just quarter of a mile from the picturesque Somerset hamlet of Waterrow, this gorgeous country house dates back to the 14th century, though was largely rebuilt in the 1920's. The setting is stunning; lush Somerset countryside all around and spectacular views across the valley; softly tumbling hills dotted with copses and farmsteads; it's a dream, and that's the kind of outlook you have from the main reception rooms, and from all bedrooms but one. You can sit on the terrace overlooking the lawns and gaze out over 60 acres of glorious farmland with ponds and lush water meadows where sheep graze. It's hard to beat and you can't fail to be anything but relaxed.

Inside, the house is undeniably spacious, and it's welcoming and homely. That's the thing, it feels like a home. At the end of the hall, the dining room is wonderful; a big polished wood dining table big enough to seat 16, an inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove, soft seating and French doors that open out onto the terrace. Easy to imagine a summer evening of drinks and canapes, or a mid winter feast. The kitchen is also off the hall and has all you need to create a fabulous banquet - but don't forget, there's always the option to call in one of our well respected professional caterers, something that's very popular for big birthdays and other celebrations. Beyond the kitchen is a utility room and scullery, also accessed from the back of the house, so perfect for when you come back with muddy boots and dogs after a walk in the fresh air.

Adjoining the dining room is the games room where there's a half-size snooker table. Be warned - it could be a long game; the temptation to pause between shots to take in those incredible views and survey the land is hard to resist!

On the other side of the hall, is a beamed snug/sitting room with a lovely big user-friendly wood-burning stove in an inglenook fireplace. There's something about this room, it feels calm and peaceful, and it's a lovely place to play games in the evening or to gather together for a sing-song around the piano.

Beyond the snug is a much bigger drawing room, kept cosy with underfloor heating, a big open fire and plenty of traditional style sofas and armchairs. Natural light streams in through the big windows that look out over the valley; French doors open onto the terrace and onto the big patio where the hot tub is. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Straight through the hall there's a shower room and access to a covered area that leads out to the back garden. A wide carpeted staircase takes you to a half landing where off to the left is Bedroom 7, with zip and link beds that can be arranged as superking or twins.

Continue up to a long landing leading to Bedrooms 1-6, all with gorgeous country views; what a treat, to sit in bed each morning with a cup of tea, gazing out over miles and miles of  rolling Somerset hills whilst you plan your day. Bedrooms 1 and 4 are twin rooms, with the latter having an ensuite bathroom.

Bedroom 2 is a small double room, and Bedrooms 3, 5 and 6 are also doubles, each with an en suite bathroom. The bedrooms are all very traditional in style which is  charming because it's a bit like staying at your rich elderly aunt's house in the country, you know, it's got that comfortable kind of feel. Two folding beds with bedding are available at an extra cost of £25 each - these are suitable for children only.
